I suppose I may become a pain, but I've just never had the opportunity to vent like this.

dang is this a street car? im jealous

heyoldguy

Yeah we drove it around on the street for awhile. It had a real bad tendency to set off the car alarms in parked cars as you drove down the street. It was interesting, at Hot August Nights in Reno, NV, getting in and out of the hotel parking lot.

The engine wasn't build to be a street motor. It was built to 'qualify' as a street motor. It was for a normally aspirated, pump gas (93 octane or E85), chassis dyno challenge. It placed 6th or 7th nationally and was massacred by the top three, all Mopars. 1st 654ci Hemi 956.83 RWHP (E85), 2nd 572ci Hemi 749.69 RWHP (93 octane) and 3rd 500ci Wedge 696.48 RWHP (E85). We had some problems during qualifying and only pulled 511 RWHP or it would have qualified 4th making the final top four all Mopars. Kinda let the Mopar gang down. :'(

That is nothing to be upset about!!! that is crazy horsepower for cast iron ported heads and pump gas.

Sounds like a great engine chassis combo the others weren't really a street combo buy any strech of the imagination...

Big money makes big power....I'd be proud of a Wedge that you can surely bet cost about 1/3 of what those Hemi's did and made respectable power to boot...

I'd say it was a job well done.
