Had the chance to talk with the owner (Carl) at Carlisle last weekend.  Very nice guy, and I wish I could help out more.  I did just sent Carl and Frank Badalson a link to this auction:

Hey Quick while looking under 426 hemi on ebay there is a guy with a nos Daytona nose

held1823

it's highly entertaining to watch people scramble to be high bidder on an ebay listing at any given time. there is over a week left, and the listing is already at $4000. many potential buyers (like this one) will not place a bid until the last few seconds of an auction, meaning the cone will almost certainly double (if not triple) its current amount. like in nascar, the only payday is for leading the last lap. being out front a week ahead of time doesn't accomplish anything other than a bidding frenzy.

the nose-less original owner daytona sitting ten feet from me is the ideal candidate for the part, but reality tells me the price will venture well beyond the checkbook balance. it's mind boggling to know that a single body part will sell for more than the car did, brand new.

Is there a noticeable difference between a original and the repo's that were done in the late 80's?

That's kinda what I was wondering.  Where's the proof this one is actually NOS & not some reproduction piece?

If I were paying the money it's bid up to only because of the NOS claim...

What's one of the quality nose cone (McGregor, sp?) go for?

There are two guys that I know of that have built noses for sale in steel. Jack Macgauhey and Gene Gregory. I have parts from both of them on my nose.
