Costing me about $150 a week in gas just to go to work now that I live 57 miles (each way) from my job.

I wonder what happened to that car hauler. That would be a great one to find.

I dont think its a hauler but maybe a tow vehicle....dont see how its long enough for that car pictured in the foreground.
wingless now, but still around.

Yes, all the K & K Daytonas were pulled on open trailers.   I don't think anyone in NASCAR had an enclosed rig at that time.

Who makes the best reproductions of 15x7 steel wheels found on some Superbirds?  Will the factory dog dish hubcaps fit on them?  Apparently the originals are impossible to find.
Thanks

Are the salvage yards few and far in between out there? All the 15x7 steelies I have came from 5th Avenues and Cordobas... The inner portion of the rim is like the originals as well, don't have the bump on it at the rim/center interface...

The only size in that tire I was able to find when I was looking was P225/60R16.  15" doesn't seem to have many options now especially in a 245-255 60 :rotz:

Back to the yellow lettering on the tyres, one of the guys out here made his own Goodyear stencils and applied them before the big drive to a week long show, they really rocked on his car.

Just some yellow rattle can number I think, , but with sidewall flex I expect it was only a few weeks/month worth of fun before it flaked and expired . There are a few more shots of it on his site. It was, without a doubt one of the coolest cars at Beach Hop that year.

Would some sort of yellow etch primer hold on better do you think ? The effort would be worthwhile for a show or summer cruise nights.

I'm sorry, but the modern D hole stock car wheels just do not look right on a wing car.    It's a tough look to get right because the original wheels are 5 on 5 and are pretty much unobtanium.   I also think the yellow "look at me" tars look hokey.  But that's just me.

Bart Wheels make the early 70's GN 5 slot wheel off the original tooling.  I think they can do them 15 x 8 and the smaller bolt pattern.  This is what used to be called the Clement Wheel.   At least some Daytonas ran these in 1971.

Help requested

Hi i am thinking about putting a set of these 15x7 or 15x8 Vintage Style Bart Racing Five Slots on my Bird with a set of 255/60R15 Eagle GT11's all the way around. The only thing is that I am not sure what the backspacing should be to fit properly on a Bird without rubbing. Also does anyone know if having disc brakes in the front make any difference in the wheel backspacing as well? Thanks
