Hey now!

Its been a while, but I'm looking to get my charger out of the garage where it has been for about 5 years - its a long story - but now Im back and ready to go driving again!

Been doing some reading on the site - the first thing I would like to do is convert the 440 to fuel injection - the carb had always given me trouble.

Now that I see Holly has a fuel injection system for under $1,500 - has anyone done this?
Any reviews?  :shruggy:

Hi Crazy,

I'm using an older Holley Commander 950 setup, with dual quad adapter. I haven't run it yet, but the setup was simple enough. The worst part so far has been the wiring harness, I bought it used and the harness was set up for a marine application; I had to do a lot of cutting and re-wrapping, and it's still not extremely nice looking. I've connected the software to ECU and looked around, seems simple enough to operate if you can translate carb tuning in your head onto a spreadsheet in your eyes. We'll find out in the next couple days.

elecruze - thats great news - Im extremely interested in the results. If it gives me a reliable start-up, then Im sold. Im watching your thread - very impressive and great photo documentation. Keep up the good work! :2thumbs:

tan top - yes its been a while, and also in that time, the charger has sat in the garage, only being started when the seasons change. 5 years, A career change, and wife/kid, has given me the charger itch again. haha I wonder how a psychiatrist would translate that?  :o

Looks simular to the setup I use to have on my Charger and took off.

I would sugest looking into this one if your going to go the carb swap route.

Keep in mind there is more than just taking the carb off and replacing it with a TBI system.

1. You will need to make sure your electrical system is capable of supplying 13+ volts all of the time or the computer will have issues.
2. make sure you are able to deliver the proper amout of fuel pressure to the system at all times, some systems require a return line to the gas tank. The one I listed above does not require a return line I believe.
3. You may want to install a sump tank in the engine compartment or make one inside your furel tank and run a submurged pump or you will have problems when your tank gets below 1/4 full.
4. Make sure you get big enought injectors. On my 700cfm setup I had 60 lb/hr injectors and with my 383 I would reach 100% duty cycle and lean out around 4000 rpm. I had to replace them with 90 lb/hr injectors.
