To restore A/C heater box or not ? Restoring now !!

I've been debating to restore my A/C heater box or not.

It appears to have been partially restored with what could be restored while still in the vehicle, new temperature control valve etc. Everything appears complete and in good working order except for the "Air-Conditioning Door" which I am in the process of locating.

I don't really want to restore it at this stage but since the dash frame is out, steering column etc and waiting for a time slot at the body shop do I bite the bullet and do it.... At the same time the firewall can be cleaned up and prepped. I'd rather get another A/C heater box and restore that one, so I can just swap them over.

What would you do ?

just restore it...      the factory system was great - and it's not super complicated

It doesn't seem terribly hard, and everything is in good condition. It's just an expense that I didn't really want at this stage.

Hmmm, Tried ordering a bunch of stuff from Megaparts but every time I call it says number not available, and no response to my email yet.

For those of you who have restored their heater boxes what else besides the DMT Big Kit is required for a complete rebuild?

Just tried to order the same stuff from a different vendor and everyone is away till Monday... Frustrating....

well - i would test the blower motor - if it works then your job is pretty simple...     the heater only box is not very complicated ---  just some gaskets, foam, and a new heater core that can be found locally at Autozone or O'Reilly's

The blower motor works but I'm not sure about the switch or resistor, I'll test both anyways before reinstalling.

I'm missing one of the clips that holds the vacuum pod actuating link onto the A/C door shaft linkage.

I read somewhere that strip caulking is required which isn't hard to get a hold of. I just want to get everything I can in one hit due to the difficulty of obtaining Mopar stuff here. I'll get the heater core and evaporator pressure tested. I'd also like to replace the blower motor nuts and heater box mounting nuts.

I'm doing my A/C heater box now, and the strip caulk was included in the DMT kit. I'm very happy with the fit of all the gaskets and insulation in the kit so far...

Is there anything else you had to purchase to completely "seal the deal"

Did the DMT kit include new actuating rod clips, and also did they include gaskets for the drivers side fresh air vent ?

Go ahead and restore it. You never know what sort of critters have been living in them.

i thought there was a company that restores ac-heater boxes.  actually - there was a company buidling new ac-heater boxes but i can't remember their name. i restored my 74 charger ac-heater box and it was not that bad to do.

Well, I pulled my box apart and it wasn't too bad. Time to pressure test the heater core and A/C evaporator.

What is this doohickey, compressor time delay ?

Does it matter which color wire goes to what terminal ?
