Here I go again... As if I did not have enough "Irons in the Fire", I am starting one final effort to learn the first ten year history of my Daytona. After being driven at fairly fast clip into a utility pole in 1979, the Daytona was taken apart to its current state and sat until sold in 1984 to the guy that I later bought it from in 1989. There is a very small chance that I could track down the original engine & transmission, and an even smaller chance of locating the smashed front end... I talked to the gentleman that I bought the car from earlier this evening, and he is willing to help try to track the material down... IF possible. The guy he bought the Daytona from was the brother of a friend, but he has not seen the friend in about ten years... So this effort is likely to be long and drawn out... Next year will be critical for the Daytona, with the front frame and firewall repairs starting... possibly in late Spring or early Summer. More on that later... first a few pictures. 1) & 2) Pictures taken the day after purchase, i.e. on June 1, 1989 3) An old aerial photo taken in 1989 showing the country home/farm where I bought the Daytona... CAN YOU FIND IT IN THE IMAGE? 4) Bill of Sale

Sounds great Troy... but I don't know about how "soon"... Attached is a sketch that I made on the day I bought the Daytona... now can some spot the Daytona? Not the best image, but it's there...

Not mine, but... it was registered in the DSA/Winged Warriors, so it is a known car... Here are some of the needed parts that I have gathered for the Daytona... I need to take some pics of the fender and other parts...

Thanks Rene... I haven't seen you post much lately I don't know how successful my search will be, but I gotta try... but with it being over 25 years since the parts were separated, the odds of locating them are not too good. BTW everyone, check out my wanted Ad (buy or trade): http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,85378.msg959990.html#new

Looks like nobody wanted to give it a try at locating the Daytona in the 1989 pic...
So here goes...
1) My old sketch from the day I bought the car. 2) The sketch overlaid on the 1989 pic 3) The image with a new "sketch" overlaid. 4) The 1989 pic with the Daytona pointed out... the blue-grey color is the roof, and the back end is in shade... the stripped front end is hard to make out in the pic.

as always your doing a great job on the telestrator mr madden Thanks Stuart... I expected a comment in the "scoops" thread where the twin turbo telestrator was on full boost... Started to have a close look at my Daytona today, and am mostly liking what I am finding... only a few new problems found. I have begun documenting the starting condition with photos, and will start posting them tonight and over the next few weeks. At first glance, there seems to be only minimal rust on the Daytona... mostly pitting. For example, around the trunk opening, the drip trough seems perfect... only mud dauber nests and misc dirt and debris.

I need to unload the misc parts from the trunk. The unrelated parts were placed there during one of the many moves that I had to make as part of my career. I expect the trunk floor will be at least moderately rust pitted. On the other hand the deck lid aft lip looks to be in great condition, as does the area around the rear window.
