I assume the Daytona is the car Troy now owns.

The Petty blue car is the same car as the red car in the top photo (mid 80's), now back in the USA.

Usually, cars in the UK keep their plate numbers throughout their life, but there is a 1-digit difference between them? (179 vs. 197)

I think the 'Bird being referred to is the very top photo, next to the white 'Bird in the street. Pete had three wing-cars: 1. My Daytona, the Petty Blue 'Bird and the 6bbl 'Bird next to his Daytona in the photo on the old former British race track banking.

They have almost been at all four corners of the planet.

We are planning to get the two South Island red Superbirds together for a photo shoot in January. My car and Brian Dowdall's.

Hi Gary
the Petty Blue car is back in the 'States and the Vit C went to Holland, though I think it has moved again, still in Europe though; I'm sure it was mentioned on the board previously by the owner or a friend of the owner but I can't find the thread!

:iagree:

Yeap, I believe that's where Pete told me.. An old classic track since "retired"?  I love that picture.. Makes me wanna go out and get a set of 15x8 steelies and powdercoat them V2..

Here's a cool picture at the same turn with the bridge.. Same location, just newer bridge..

Also, aerial view of the former track that's now a museum. You can see the banked turn with the bridge. Looks like a Concorde there... :)

Changing plates has become fashionable over here in recent years, which makes it very hard to keep track of cars, which also often change color with every owner. Regarding the red Bird in the first picture which became Pete's, when it was first imported and registered it was given a registration with a 'Q' prefix. This is typically given to cars where the year of manufacture cannot be proven, or, things like KIT cars. Consequently it is seen as being a bad thing and at some stage in it's life one of the owners managed to get it changed. It is as Pete would tell you a true Petty Blue car. The other car in the first picture (white) was also a 4v 440 auto car, originally EV2 Tor Red.

Dave Kanofsky

Anybody know what became of the white car in the first pic?

My friend Joe brought a beat up white Superbird from England to the U.S. 10+ years ago, and sold it to a another local guy here who has been slowly restoring it ever since.

That is likely the same car Dave as to the best of my knowledge there has only ever been one white painted Bird here. I am still friends with the ex -owner here if he wants to get in touch.
