This is the car David Patik owned in the late 70's.    Also more recently owned by Denis Fortin from Canada.   Denis sold it several years ago.   $179k buy it now.  XX29L9B400584

I remember this car from back in the day. Back in the 1980-82 time frame I drove my Daytona to Cedar Rapids to meet correct me if I'm wrong Frank Patik. Dave's dad. Had set up a time to drive down and meet him and see their car. Only saw Dave long enough to be introduced to him as he was on his way somewhere. I met Frank at his house in Cedar Rapids not at the place in the country where they had the rest of their cars. We spent quite a while looking each others car over and discussing them. Got the standard back in the day price of 10K when I asked the question. The trip wasn't really about looking for or buying cars though. More about meeting a fellow owner and comparing and discussing our cars. Always wondered what happened to the car. It was a nice unrestored driver quality car at the time as I remember it.

Thanks for posting.

Stuart,
You have got me there! Right now I'm inclined to paint it panther pink with white gut and stripe!
On another note when Dennis Fortin had the car he replied to one of my for sale ads.
When he found out we also had a B5 blue Daytona with white stripe and B7 interior we became
great friends! I supplied Dennis with almost all the correct date code side glass that's in the
Daytona now! The original glass had scratches and marks from it's past!
We met dennis in 2001 at the Michigan Auburn Hills meet and the Daytona was restored then!

John, before you paint the car pink, you could always just send it my way instead. Who am I kidding I couldn't get that one either.

green does have potential, sort of like morning wood.

blue, however, is like basking in the afterglow, trying to catch your breath and wondering if your legs still work.

:iagree: Yup my favorite color on a bird. Never was a big fan of Limelight years ago but it has really grown on me in the past few years. Especially with the black contrast.

Don't get me started on FJ6 - one of my favorite all time colors. Wish the birds had that color. With a white interior and graphics I would say it's near perfect. ;) :yesnod: :icon_smile_big: :drool5:

Back to the subject though  BLUE BLUE BLUE .  I agree B5 blue and white graphics and interior  is what it's all about for me when it comes to winged things :2thumbs:

Actually F6 with white interior and graphics would due just as well for a Daytona  :icon_smile_big:

I think an F6 'Tona would be on the top of my list. I have an A12 Bee in F6 and it looks cool.

I bugged John A. for his car for years.....he kept sending me ads for other cars so I would leave him alone!

held1823

where is the photo of the A12 car?  you can't toss that out there, then leave us hanging.

:o Love it original paint car, nice.

I like the detail on the fender tag screws on this B5 Daytona not being missed, nice little detail to me.

The aero's look good in B5 for sure, I would favor a nice original car, even repaint in almost any color if bought today, but if I have my favorite I would have to say 1) white w/black or 2) a 3xblack or 3) A4 Daytona would be on the top of my list of wishes.

Toms Daytona

I have to say I am excited to finally see my former car.  I was the second owner of this car, and have a guy start the body work welding some metal on the front fenders.  Unfortunately, he also caught the rubber gasket between the nose and car on fire and started to melt it.  I would like to find out where it is right now, and I'd love to see it again.  I'm going to look for some pictures or it, but I have moved about 6 times since I sold it in 1975.  If I find them, I will post them.
