My superbird is a original 6 barrel car. My original radiator was deemed unrebuildable at my local radiator shop. I have found several replacement 26" radiators, however before I buy one want to confirm if the radiators had date codes ?  If they do can somebody post a picture and explain how to decode the radiator date code ?  Any help is appreciated.

I do not have a picture, but the date code is stamped into the mounting bracket on the passenger side. It can be seen from the engine compartment. It might be tough to read if the paint is thick and fills the numbers in.
I will try to get a photo of mine this weekend.

1970 Superbird with a tag date of B309 has a radiator date of 291 9. Superbirds were Lynch Road built, so we can conclude at least some Lynch Roaders had dates.

Also had a '69 Hemi Bee - St. Louis built with a tag date of January 28, 1969, and a radiator date of 018 9.

Here's a picture of the date code on my radiator.

Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.

Before pronouncing it a dead radiator, you might try giving Glen-Ray Radiators a call.  Bob worked wonders on both an 055 and 054 radiator for me.  He can mix-and-match stuff to resurrect what you have, including keeping your original date-coded mounting brackets.

While they're not as cheap as most corner radiator shops would be, neither is the cost for a 956 core that still might need rebuilt.

I had my original rebuilt by Bob&co at Glen-ray and Im am super thrilled. I havent put it in the car yet but the price was about half of the cost of one of his reproductions and I have MY radiator. One of the "Good" guys to deal with too!
wingless now, but still around.

Just had mine done this week, used my tanks and put a new core in with more cooling fins per square inch, looks original with the correct numbers, and cools better. Cost 450 bucks, money well spent. Hankinsons radiator, Grand Rapids Michigan.

what makes a radiator 'unrebuildable' besides laziness?  how rotten are the tanks??
