It's all right.... Just a 1/2 hr of automotive entertainment, "nothing more, nothing less", not really a technical building type show at all, just Danny driving around Vegas area & buying then, usually flipping or keeping cars/bikes, I saw the Superbird teaser for next week also, could be interesting show, in the 1st show he said something about his top 5 favorite cars or something, that was one of them....

surmanajaja

the dual latemodel Ford engined hot rod was kinda cool. looks like every car he buys is a 50k car "done"  (paint and detailing), he should sell some of my junk.

fun short show to watch, not much real about it probably.  did u watch that texas show, "fast and loud"? that was a lot more enjoyable and they really built the stuff. prices were wacky there too but much more realistic than this shows..

My sister sent me a text telling me about the show. She's watching thinking I took a beating on my car so I'm hoping the owner holds out for big money.

Very little screen time and no offer was ever made.  On other cars he tried to buy, he at least tried to tempt them with cash.  As i said before, I have and would pull over to let some one take a look at one of my cars, but I would not let someone I don't know drive any of them :Twocents:

I'm sure he's gotten an okay from them before the "reality" segment where they are asked for the first  :icon_smile_wink: time.

They didnt do their superbird research

You said it!  He had some of the ideas close, but the numbers were way off.

At least they gave respect for the car and it's purpose

The problem is the number of viewers who he has just made believe that number.  And you know how it goes, if a Superbird is worth 300k then a 68 Road Runner has to be 100k, which makes a 69 Satellite worth 50 to 75 so I should be able to easily get 35 for my 1970 Fury four door poorject (sp) car.

The real shame is that 99% of the population doesnt know any better and now they will take it as gospel because they heard it on TV. Now all I'll hear from people who saw the show is "hey I saw your car on Counting Counting cars and it's worth $300K" if you listen carefully (I DVR'd it and watched this short segment twice) the SB owner says "in the day" they would bring $300K, but noone watching will realize what he actually said they will only remember:

There are only 300 left
It's worth $300K
It set a land speed record of 225 MPH
was banned from nascar

I would think the shows producers could have spent 5 minutes of internet research and gotten the facts at least close to being right, but this is "reality" TV after all!
I was also dissapointed they never showed the engine. In one of the scenes you could see the hood was open but no engine or interior coverage.  :shruggy:

Not unlike the news, the straight facts don't make for exciting copy.  A little slant for marketing is what we need.
Sadly, anything factual with a Superbird is exciting, there is no need to exaggerate.

I'm all for that...LOL... Yea the $300k price was a little steep, I'm sure thats why he didn't even counter with a realistic offer.... It's still cool to see a Superbird on TV even if the facts are all fudged up...

Gotta love disinformation, I had a buddy of mine tell me about the show as I don't have DirecTV (I would not watch it anyway even if I did) I hate these types of shows because the people in them are a "jack of all trades and master of none" type folks, when my buddy said the Superbirds were worth $300,000 I laughed and he said "That's what the expert said" Yeah MAYBE a few lucky guys got that out of them 6 years ago but highly unlikely.... Ridiculous. :RantExplode:
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

Aero426

I used to get mad when shows like this aired with the usual lack of research.    I have since moderated to being glad the car has been kept in the public eye and possibly shown to some new viewers too.     When you talk to people at shows, there sure has been a lot of misinformation passed down through the years.    It's nothing new.   The good news is we won't run out of things to talk about with our "fans".

how about the episode with the primered 73 2dr. Satellite with a road runner hood on it. They mention that they made these police cars :eek2: but no mention of the road runner :flame:

He did say "...in the day", or "...at the height",,, something like that. I don't think he was referencing the market value at the day of filming. But, even with that, "back in the day", the $300K would have been pretty steep for a 'Bird..

Barely made it through the episode of the purple Satellite last night.   Could not watch the next one.    This is probably the weakest of all the Pawn Star franchise shows.   It will be gone and replaced by one with the rare book lady.
