I already know I have to replace one quarter. But I do want to attempt to fix as much of the original body as possible. I know I still need to strip the paint and such. But from the picture I already have can you tell me if the Quarter is patchable? If the passengers side fender where its rusted is in any possible way fixable. Like welding in new metal. It might be a lost cause I understand. BUT I still want to ask.

Quarter where the rust has eaten through

The fender im sure cant be saved. But I gotta ask

And then the drivers side fender. Its slightly dented. And if i need more pics Ill get more. Theres also a picture of the door in there too.

Tell me what you think. Thanks

How about either posting pics or fixing your links first :2thumbs:

Anything can be fixed, the question is how much is it worth it to you to keep the original steel?

I say strip the paint without spending a fortune or wasting half your winter and then see what you have to work with.  As long as all that paint and bondo is on there it's nothing more than a guessing game.

Here's your fixed links:

passenger side 70 fenders are not too too hard to find in decent shape. I'd change it. I bet the bottom and along the top near the back is rotten looking at the rust on the fender and 1/4's.

Before i actually had Full AMD 1/4's in my hands i said change the whole 1/4 save yourself a lot of bondoing/straightening.

Now that I have full AMD 1/4's on my car I can say the need a lot of straigthning to work and had to be cut and fit at the deck filler seam and rear window corners.

In the end not really a whole lot of time savings compared to patching.

In my case not much choice as the originals were rotted up to the lower body line, over the wheel, sail panels, on the top side, at the trunk gutter too.

Like mentioned strip the 1/4's down to see whats underthere.

yep  :iagree:

to be honest ,  seen enough of the rear quarters ,  think when all paint is off , they are going to be a mess
my  :Twocents: two new quarters or just the skins ,  ,
strip the doors , fenders , see whats going on ! if badly rotted   see if you can source a better rot free panels , if not repair them  :yesnod:

The drivers side fender, it saveable? Or should i be looking at all new fenders and quarters? The other side is just terrible. I dont even want to post a picture. Well ok its not that bad but I already know it NEEDS replacing.

Thanks for the input. I really appreciate it. Helps alot.

I didn't see a pic of the drivers side front fender.

Keep in mind you can't buy new front fenders as nobody makes 70 fenders or hoods.

That ain't no '70.

71-72 is my guess looking at the fender mounted turn signals.

EDIT:  71 it is.
