Off topic, but I get thumbs up :2thumbs: and video taped whenever I take one of the girls (I also have a 70' burnt orange Road Runner 440). I am an old fart so I enjoy the attention (except one guy at a Stop N' Go asked me if my car was a Camaro) (I was nice and bit my tongue, but I really wanted to hit him with a baseball bat). There is just no that many of us true MOPAR lover around. Keep you car away from Chip Fooze. He does great work, but IMHO he has screwed up every MOPAR he gets his hands on (except the Chrysler 300 he did, but nothing radical there).

His name is Cuda, but I should call him Bomb because he photo bombs my pics.

Hey Ger, Whats been happening with the Charger?

gers1968rt

I think this is as far as I need to go before starting to rebuild and weld on the panels. I just need to sandblast the roof inner-structure first.

The amount of work on this car blows my mind!  Truely a talent at work!

As someone said earlier,  I am glad you own this car!  Thanks for saving it!

I could not sandblast today as it was rainy/snowy so I inspected some areas of the roof bracing and realized that I needed to replace the rear brace above rear window. :flame: I then repaired a 6 inch section on drivers side. I then mocked up the new amd drip rail and guess what, it will need tweaking as it does not line up with the a pillar drip rail. I will have to figure out the best way to fix this, just a fyi for you Don and anyone else if you are getting amd drip rails. Has anyone else had this problem and what was the best way to fix it?
I used to own a mopar because it was different, but now I know better.

Hi Ger,
I am hoping to reuse my original drip rails, but will keep it in mind when I get that far.
So from your picture it needs to move in to match up right?

500Jon

OMG GER!!! :2thumbs:
Thought I knew about fixing B-Bods! :scratchchin:
You are taking this Charger to another level! :pity: :pity: :pity:

Hats OFF to you, a true Metal MAGICIAN!!!

When I say my 'Charger' has rust issues, I mean like 'SURFACE' LOL. :icon_smile_big:

Stunning workmanship from a fellow tin-beater.

Yes, it needs to move inward to match up with the a pillar, about 1/4 inch. I'm hoping it only needs tweaking for the first 9 to 12 inches.

Ger your skills are amazing.  :notworthy:   I've been watching this thread with awe.  :coolgleamA:

Sometimes I sit back and wonder how guys like you acquire the knowledge and talent to do this stuff?  :scratchchin:  Was it passed down to you or did you learn on the job somewhere?  There's just not a lot of individuals who can do the work you're doing.

My next question is related to the building you're working in.  The thing is gigantic, but what the heck is it....a greenhouse?  :shruggy:

The pictures makes it appear long and very tall, and reminds me of a domed metal framed canopy with sides....sort of like a...well, greenhouse!

Thanks Tufcat, I am learning as I go, in the background is my son's amx that he has been working on for over 4 years now. We just try to reason it out and get to it. We also make mistakes and have to revise our plans and sometimes do things over.
I own a greenhouse and this area is a work area that we made out of an area between 2 greenhouses. It is 20 feet by 170 feet.
The first pic is of my main greenhouse, it is 2.66 acres in size.

Yeah, I've tried to put that link out as much as I can.  I haven't heard from any others that used the method, but it sure sounds right.

500Jon

Hi Ger and Don
You don't know what you can do until you try!
As my dad always said, ''IF A JOBS WORTH DOING''
Yep, you know the rest.

To me the 'bodyshell' IS THE CAR!!!
Unless that is right then it will always be WRONG! :rotz:

Most Folks can bolt on a fender, hood, door or trunklid.
Some Folks can even build engines, transmissions and axles?

But only a 'rare few' can fix a totally rusty 'SHELL'!

YOU GUYS HAVE RAISED THE BAR, TOO THE VERY HIGHEST POSITION!!!

We are all left to admire your commitment to Mother Mopar! :notworthy:
Hats OFF as we Limeys say.

We are forever in awe of your brilliance.

I did some blasting today and well, I guess I need some more parts or I will be fabricating again. The lower piece of the front roof brace has holes like swiss cheese. If somebody has a replacement I would be happy to hear about it. AMD doesn't make a piece, at least none is listed on their website.
I used to own a mopar because it was different, but now I know better.

mopar4don

Hey Ger, I'll check my stash and let you know.

mopar4don

I thought I had the roof support you need.
Spent about an hour looking for it, but just could not find it.
I then went back through some pics of the donor a-pillars that I bought and turns out I never had it!
The previous owner had cut it out!
Sorry but I am sure with your talents, you will get this fabbed in no time.
Good Luck
Don
