What would you guys recommend for a repair on a dipstick tube on a 727. I am running headers on my 440 and have problems with it leaking tranny fluid after the car has ran and gets parked. Not sure if there is an aftermarket tube that works better for this application? I can only suspect the tube is in a bit of a bind, the o ring is brand new but the tube had to be tweaked a little to fit in there with headers. let me know if you guys have suggestions. Thanks

I do not know of a aftermarket tube , possibly a thicker O ring & a little Ultra silicone could seal it

Venezuelan RT 74 400 4bbl, 727, 8.75 3.23 open. Now stroked with 440 crank and 3.55 SG. Here is the History and how is actually: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,7603.0/all.html

Mancini Racing has a couple, one is a steel tube with a locking dipstick handle which I have used and love it. The other is a flexible braided tube.  http://store.yahoo.com/chucker54/autdip.html
If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.

on my stock car i tapped it out with a pipe tap and used either 3/4 or 1/2 black pipe for my trans dipstick tube. i would say its the hard way to go in a street app, but it was simple for me with the fire wall moved

maybe  tweaking that tube is causing it to sit in the tranny crooked???  And not getting a positive seal???   What I did with my General  is...I used a coat hanger to "mold" the direction I wanted the dipstick to go, and used an electrical conduit pipe bender to mock up the application.   That stick has to sit in there square and flush!!!

Godd idea Tyler.  Mine doesn't seal well either but it's isn't from being tweaked so I guess I'll be laying a little Ultra silicone in mine shortly.  It's an embarassing thing.

pull it out and clean the hole . No sealer to mess things up.

Install a new ring , pu the tube in and leave the anchor bolt on the bracket loose. Insert a screwdriver in the tube and give it a couple of whacks to seat it properly..

Tighten the bracket bolt and it is done..
