I have a 71 Charger with a 318. It was a cam that was in it so I have no idea what size it is. It also has a high performance intake. I currently have a carter 750 carb, I have been told that is too big. So what typ and size of carb should I have?

I would use the #1850 holley 600 CFM

i have a 383  (originally a 2 bbl  car)   and I use that Edelbrock 1405   and works excellent!!!

An Edelbrock in the 600 size would work well if you want to just bolt it on and forget it.

I have a PERFECT AND NOS 6140 TQ carb for that... 800 cfms :D... originally for 340 auto 72 :P

I can't see why some ppl could say is "too big"... here in Venezuela 800 cfms TQs were factory installed on 71/72  318 4bbls engines.
Venezuelan RT 74 400 4bbl, 727, 8.75 3.23 open. Now stroked with 440 crank and 3.55 SG. Here is the History and how is actually: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,7603.0/all.html

Because most of the time, TQ's run on those tiny little primaries.  I'd bet those 318's didn't tip the back barrels in much.

Update I put a ELD 600 electric choke on it and it runs beutifully.
