I was in Chicago earlier this week so I thought I'd stop in and see Mr. Norm.  The dealership was a little more run down than the last time I was there about ten years ago.

Ghoste

But I had a nice visit with Norm.  Not much of a salesman though, he kind of let me do all the talking.

Way cool.  :coolgleamA:

I live several blocks east of there and have been planning on taking a walk to the old place, maybe I will actually do that sometime soon.

Norm doesn't drink.

That's good.... I'd hate to see him get all sauced up and fall over

I live just north of there and pass by it atleast once a week.  You were there on a nice day!  Usually there is police tape and such.

Did you see the original signage across the street coming through the old paint?

Ryan

Ghoste

I took some pics of the building across the street but didn't know there was still signage on it.

I'm surprised that someone hasn't lifted that sign yet. with the owners permission of course :icon_smile_cool:

Ghoste

It wouldn't be easy to get.  In the daytime its up there pretty high and I'm not sure I'd hang around there at night.

TheAutoArchaeologist

Yeah, we've been talking with the owner to get the signage.

Also the Church sign across the street is the original Mr. Norm's Kawasaki sign, just painted over.

Who is Mr. Norm the guy holding the sign or the guy holding the picture?  ;)

I didn't realize you lived in Chicago too.  We could have had a nice get-together with Ghoste and Mr. Norm. W could have hit up Feed and then gone to the Continental for a real fun time.  :2thumbs:

Honestly, it would be real cool to walk around the old place sometime, just for the sake of it.

Ghoste

I followed the Grand Spaulding visit up with a pie at Minalti's.  You come all the way to Chicago you gotta have a deep dish.

tsmithae

Great call, Ghoste, you can't go wrong with Malnati's!

Great, now I'm hungry and there's still 4 hours until lunch...  :drool5:

What a mess. When did they close their doors?

Cooter

If I had money, I'd buy the building/property and move the entire thing out of that sh*those it's in now...
a real shame. Get with Norm and with permission, rebuild it exactly like it was.
