I am trying to find out what is different on 1969 Hemi rear carbs, have two sets but the top is missing from the auto rear carb and I don't know if they are the same for a manual or if the tops from other AFB's are the same, Is it just a matter of jet sizes and/or metering rods ?

The difference between auto and 4-speed carbs is all internal, the main body and the lid are the same.

All the Street Hemis used the AFB with the smaller 4-7/32'' air cleaner neck and they're all pretty much the same with the exception of the fuel inlet location...IOW, if you find one from a Brand X that looks the same it should work.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
