68 Charger R/T Experts - Emblems on Vinyl Top

When I bought my 68 Charger R/T it did not have the vinyl top installed. Looking through my box of emblems, I found the two "Charger" slightly curved emblems that I polished and painted the sides with matte black. I also found an arrow emblem that is black and red. The 68 Charger R/T's I've seen in person never displayed the arrow emblem on the vinyl. However, I have an old article and picture from an old Mopar magazine that shows a 68 R/T with the arrow emblem on the passanger side only on the black vinyl top next to the "Charger" emblem. I have a friend that said that he has heard of early 68's having the arrow emblem only. Does anyone know if that's true?

My Charger is not close by now to see if the holes are there for the arrow emblem.

:shruggy:  i've never heard of that.  are you gonna put it on?  Or could that piece be from a differnet car mixed in with your parts when you got the car?

Thanks again Paul for the window!   :boogie:

I was not planning to install the arrow emblem until I found that one emblem and I remembered that article on that number matching 68 Charger R/t owned by Michael DeSantis from Danville, PA, as the article mentions it. It also said that the Charger was restored to spec as per factory build sheet and on the photo, the arrow emblem is next to the "Charger" emblem on the passenger side. I wonder if the reason Chrysler placed that on that side only was the same as the little penta star on the passenger fender. So people on the sidewalk could view it. This article was on "High Performance Mopar" magazine on July, 1995. Same MM-1 car as mine with no A/C. I'm trying to scan it here at work to display it. Had the article in my truck.

yes  i read  some thing like that  only a very early production run of 68 chargers  ,got a side ways arrow next to the charger emblems on the roof,   (only a few cars received them)  and then Chrysler dropped the idea. I've got an picture in a book with a charger with a side ways arrow ,can't remember if it was an R/T though will have to check ,

When we were restoring my '68, the dealer sales brochures showed that emblem on the roof. Our car did not have it, but we just thought it looked good and should be there. This was back in the MID-'80's though, restorations nowadays are much different. We ended up putting that arrow emblem on both sides of the roof.
Attached is a pic.
BTW, no it's not a real R/T.

I tried to scan the article I mentioned above that shows a picture of the Charger with the arrow and it's a true R/T, as per the article. The picture came out black, you can't even see the emblems. That picture bill440rt posted is exactly what the article shows. Is it in both sides though??

Ok c'mon, you're gonna make a grown man blush.  :blush2:

We put the arrows on both sides of the car, it wouldn't/didn't look right the other way. The passenger side is I>I Charger and the driver's side is Charger I>I. (Can you visualize that?)   ;)

Yep! I better go back to that box tonight and dig again and see if I find another arrow emblem! I thought it was only on one side. :rotz:

Any of those Chargers listed in your publications are R/T's?

:iagree:  All of my 67 Advertisements for the 68 Charger R/T or non R/T models, show the Charger
emblem and the arrow emblem in line with it on the sail panel. I have never seen an original one
from the factory that had them yet, and I have had these cars for 28yrs. I think some came out
like the ones in the adds, but there must have been very very few, I do like the look though  ;D

This is one of the promo pictures.
