Hey gang..
Been waiting to get home from vacation to post these on the board.. Some may have seen them on my facebook postings. But, in a nutshell... The family and I drove off to the Charlotte/Mooresville, NC area for vacation to see my buddy Gene and his family. I haven't really hung out and do car-related things with him since I left South Florida where we both grew up since '87 when I joined active duty Air Force. Amazing how much time went by, but it was almost like it was yesterday except for the fact I live in Texas now, he in North Carolina, we both are married and have kids..... Other than that, we're just the same..   :smilielol:

While Kim and his wife Angie had fun in the antique and craft stores, Gene and I took off to a few cool places..

1. Got a special invite from Ray Evernham to see his private collection. Now that was very cool. Got to see some very unique cars, his VERY cool display area of his race cars and a couple from his Americarna show. Also saw his very nice street car collection of which included John's former F6 Daytona and Steve's former B5 1970 Bristol Pace car Superbird. Of course, he had some very nice Ford and Mercury aeros as well...

I just wanted to see more of the red 500

Sorry Danny, should have taken more.......... The F8 is a 440 auto whereas the red one is a 440 console 4-speed with white interior............

That race Talladaga is pretty darn cool. Don't care too much for the melted soap bars no matter whose numbers are on it.

Thanks for sharing. Looks like it was a fun trip.

It is also a fake.  Unfortunately, none of the real Petty Talladegas are documented to have survived.    This one is not owned by the Petty Museum, but is on loan.

I wish I had known you were coming to the Hendrick campus. I work in the same building as the museum at the back end where we hang the bodies. I could have given you a little quick tour of that operation if you were curious. You were just a couple of hundred feet away. By the way I don't know if it was running while you were there but that exhibit where the body lifts off of the car to expose the chassis is my contraption. If you pass this way again and they  haven't fired me yet give me a holler.

Just 6T9 CHGR

Cool trip!  Love seeing John's old Daytona  Miss seeing it at Carlisle!

Well fiddle sticks........

C'est La Vie....... I ran into a gent that's going to start working over there in the parts department soon. Know of any Chassis Manager/Foreman positions? I have a REAL good friend who was with Turner-Scott Motorsports and, well, you know what happen there....

I did see your crafty work, we were all impressed....

Currently they are cutting personnel and pay  here so unfortunately no on positions available here. Not the best of times to be out of work in this sport.

Glad you had a great time with all of the touring and I can't wait to see you tooling around in your HEMI powered Daytona again.
