Guys, thinking about putting headers on my 68 charger 440 4 speed, wondering which ones will fit best without having to ding any of them, only thing not stock on mine that I can think would matter is a mini starter.  Dougs? Hedman? Hooker?

TTI hands down.  Do it once and do it right.

I got a set of Hookers that I have to beat to death to get them to clear spark plugs, steering box and I can't remember what else. I am guessing it was a "new guy" who did the set as they can't all be that bad and still making them. :icon_smile_dissapprove:

TTI, the rest you are wasting your money!

The $100 1 3/4 heddmans bolted right onto mine with powersteering. No clearancing needed. All plugs accessed easily from the top.

I am running 2" TTI (actually old CPPA) with a Lakewood Bellhousing and mini starter on my 440.  Minor mods made, (some shaving of mini starter) very tight but they fit.  Car has power steering as well.

I don't know if they are the "best" fitting headers, but I used Hedman full length street headers (https://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/hed-78030/overview/year/1973/make/dodge/model/charger) on my 1973 Charger 440 and they worked good (they advertise as fitting the 68-70 b bodies as well). Tight, but fit with a full size starter and access to all the spark plugs. Mine are just painted , but are also available in ceramic coated. That being said, if you have the funds, go stainless!

X2, keep saving up, they aint' cheap.

Bad B-rad

I used Hooker Super Comps (1 7/8 primary)on my 383, and a 440 in  a 66 Charger and they fit great.
I think just one of the spark plugs was a bitch to get to, I think it was #7, if not #7 then #8 can't remember been a few years.

I used Hedman shorty headers. They needed a small ding by the steering box on the left side. The right side, however, needed alot of love from the hammer on the number 2 tube to clear the shock tower. And I got a torque strap to stop the engine rolling over, so it never touches now. Im happy with them. Especially considering the money saved.

I am looking for a set as well and TTI seems to be the consensus.  I am running a RMS front suspension and TKO600 trans.  What about Doug's?  They seem to be a much more reasonable price, but not sure how they fit.

Mine fit great, no clearance issues, don't trap the starter, don't burn plug wires, don't leak, seem to make okay power, and they were free.

I'm very glad I got rid of my headers and installed the hp manifolds.   :yesnod:
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

2 1/8 ttis just fitted to the new build today. TIGHT, but given the size of the tubes, im impressed. Zero clearance issues. Mini starter is tight, but clears everything. Surprisingly i was able to fully reach inside the tubes to bolt the starter up, then hook up the wiring.
