Has anybody here used the torsion bar crossmember caps from Autorust.com? My '69's torsion bar crossmember is rotted out pretty bad on the outside 6 inches on both sides. It's actually almost non existant. It's realistically the only thing stopping me from getting the car running and driving as is. Saw they make weld over caps so I was wondering if anybody has used these? It would just be for a few years until eventually the entire crossmember is torm out and replaced with a full new AMD piece.

Do you have enough left to weld to? Those were very popular years ago before all the repro parts became available. They're actually a member here but haven't been on in a long while.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Yeah, there is still some metal left on each rotten side. Enough to weld to I would think.

Considering you have a pile of cars in line for restoration and have less space and fewer tools than I do... just weld them on. You'll probably get 15 years of driving in before you take it apart! ;)
