Hey all;

I'm working on getting my '69 on the road. Just want to cruise it as-is while I'm restoring my '71 Charger R/T. It's a 318-2bbl/ 904 automatic car originally but has a 383-4bbl/ 727 automatic in it now. It still has the original 8 1/4 in it. I have the original driveshaft from the car as well as the driveshaft that came out of the '68 Newport we pulled the 383 out of. Will any of those driveshafts work? I'm looking for an 8 3/4 to put into it but was wondering if there was a driveshaft I could use in the meantime with the 8 1/4 or if I'd have to get one made. If that's the case, I'd just hold off until I can find a local decent 8 3/4.

Thanks!
:cheers:

Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

This.

You don't want shorter than the original, but you also need at least 3/4" from bottoming out.

500" NA, Eddy head, pump gas, exhaust manifold with 2 1/2 exhaust with tailpipes
4150 lbs with driver, 3.23 gear, stock converter
11.68 @ 120.2 mph

Hey guys;

Thanks for the input. I just got an 8 3/4 for a screamin' deal so I'll use the proper driveshaft  :cheers:
