Are the consoles in 4 speed cars the same as Auto?
I know the top-plates are different, but is there a different bottom?

I'm trying to decide wether to keep my console or not, after I switch to the Keisler.  The kit comes with a new trans tunnel hump and I think I may have to cut the console  :icon_smile_dissapprove: to make it fit.

Has anyone put a Keisler auto-manual kit in a 3rd gen on this site?

yes, they are different, just the lower plastic section becasue the different cut out to tranny hump to shifter... I think easy to modify just cuting out a little bit more... not sure about that.

I think top plastic section of console ( NOT THE TOP WOODGRAINED PLATE ) is the same. Let me check PN on my catalog.

Confirmed... just lower section of plastic body is different. Upper plastic section is the same to both ( manual and auto tranny ). Top Plate is of course also different. Lid is teh same.

PN:
upper: 3500 GX9
Lower, auto cars: 3541 GX9
Lower, manual  cars: 3542 GX9
Finish plate, auto: 3550076
Finish plate, manual 3550074

it  is just cut around the shifter boot & with the keisler the shifter will be positioned in a  more central location , not sure hoiw much further back the shifter will be though

70 E body and first half of 71 B and E bodies uses different part numbers since consoles are different to storage the belt bucles ( no ashtrays ) on back. But differences about manual and auto trannies is the same

about those earliers consoles.. sorry, don't. They look exactly the same to laters, but has just a wider cut out on top rear section instead ashtray and some kind of reinforcements on lower section to keep bluckes in place against console itself, inside it.

sorry, same answer but I can say to you lower driver section... if you see mounted your console on car, you will notice a cut out where brackets to shifter is, is an area where lower console opening is wider... so is the same to manual consoles but cut out is a little bit toward to front I think... You will need just elongate the cut out to fit the tranny boot hump. Is not  really a big deal since is not noticeable once installed

And top plate is not headache since I think they are available as repro on YO.

Thanks.  I have one of the repro top plates for the 4 speed.  We'll see how it all goes...

Do you still need a picture of a 4 speed console? If so I can take you a couple tonight when I get home.

Here ya go sir, hope this helps. If I need to take it out I will but I think this will show you what you need to know. Not much of a difference other than the cut out.
