Talked to guy that imported the car into australia back in 2010.
Guy who inspected the car in Cali said it was matching numbers, which turned out to not be true.
So my question is this;
Whats a realistic price in the states for a non numbers, genuine v-code bird? Fibreglass nosecone, missing scissor jack that needs a few mechanicals sorted?
150k?

Glass nose,
IMO I doubt it would bring $150k in the states , But I could be wrong
prices for Birds are all over the map

Claims the engine cast dates seemed to be a few months newer than the cars build date. Im not sure if he found any sequence stamps anywhere. I had a look on radiator support but couldnt see anything. There was a thin foam sheet there hiding anything anyway.

I agree, that price is a little high, for a car without the original drivetrain and a fibreglass nose. I think the first thing to do would be to get down to the truth about whether the car is numbers matching or not. You have no doubt realized you're going to pay a premium for a car in your location, cuz there aren't very many birds there, I'm sure!

True, the prices in the eBay link are all over the place BUT, most of them have been listed for a looooong time. Asking price and selling price are two different things

Loved the pics of your bird mate. Haven't got that much coin though. I'd be doing a trade deal with 70 charger + cash if this happens.

Well, 2 months later and it's in my garage!  :icon_smile_big: Very happy. Swapped my 70 charger 500 + cash. Scored it at a goodish price (100k lower than what it would've cost to import from USA). Turned out it was all numbers matching with just a few things to correct/live with  :2thumbs: Have original sales documents, broadcast sheet etc. Sold new in Greenville, SC  '71.

*Fibreglass nosecone
*Missing front scissor jack
*8 3/4 diff swapped for dana 60
*Bucket seat door trims
*Some bondo down low in rear quarters and sill panels

licence plate has been positioned properly since this pic taken. dealer did that. I haven't put the plate on the front. don't want to drill any holes. see how long I can get away with it.

How great is that? (Spending your kids' inheritance, I see!) It's 1:40 a.m. local time and I'm up. The absolute strangest thing just happened: one of my four kids just texted me "I miss your Superbird". What's so strange about it is that we don't talk much at all, but it's been getting better the last year. He was referring to the bird I owned 1990-2001. I texted him a picture of my current bird, and he didn't know I had replaced it with this other one, and wanted to know the story behind it. Very strange; I'm happy he reached out.

That is awesome news!! You can correct those items over time if you want to but it certainly will up its value exponentially over the money spent and you got a deal on a real bird!!  :2thumbs:
