I know it uses to be a 2 inches difference between Plymouths and Dodges models... Barracudas and Challengers, Belvederes and Coronets etc... I know the driveshaft is shorter, but where in the body this 2 inches diff is taken? I know on E bodies the rear foot well is shorter on Barracudas, but how interior panels could be interchanged with these 2 inches difference between Dodges and Plymouths cousins? Same about glasses...

1" difference.

Dodge has a 1" longer spring attach bracket than a Plymouth. They both use the same leaf springs so the Dodge wheelbase is an inch longer than Plymouth. Why there is also a different shackle mounting assembly in the frame on each car line, as the shackle mounts an inch further back on the frame on the Dodge than the Plymouth.

Yeah, well, 1" or 2"... ( e Bodies are 2" ) but still. i can get the diff on springs shackles and bracket to share same springs, but I guess the wheel wells are located diff right? So how the interior panels could be interchangeable (as far I known) and quarter glasses! Is the C pillar narrower on Plymouths?

On E Bodies, the rear foot weell is also smaller. That sets the bench also closer to front buckets. Pretty much logical also due the closer wheel wells... same question about rear interior panels and quarter glass.

I think A bodies are pretty much the same...

And 4 doors? Doors use to be also interchangeable. So this diff should be taken anywhere between door and wheel wells

Hi Folks,          10 December 2023

In 1969 we bought a 440 X 6 SB. We removed the 6PK, replaced the cross member with a Hemi unit, put our 68 RR's Hemi into the SB, same for the transmission and third member assay. It all fit w/o any mods or adapters. Soon we'll have the 440 X-member back in the SB along with its third member assay which is currently in the 68 RR.

We don't doubt the 1" difference between the two. Never knew about it nor did we encounter any difficulties swapping the third members and other parts. To be honest, we do not remember which driveshaft we used for the swap. Since the drive shafts are here in the garage we'll measure them and will let you know. For certain, the shafts are different.

Once it's all back together it'll be a moot point for us'n. We'n be glad when it be done did.

Best Always

I understand where the mech diff are but I guess it should be a diff also on trim! If the rear wheel well are more to forward ( 1", 2" you name it) the bench also fits forward, so anything else of the trim should take that wheel base difference... right?

But AS FAR I KNOW interior trim, glasses interchanges between Plymouths and Dodges... where this diff is taken then on these parts?
