Ever had a car stolen?

2 cars and one motorcycle for me. First was a TS400 Apache then years later a 53 CJ3A, next was a TR-7 a few years after that. The TS400 and CJ3 were never seen again, at least the bike was insured. The TR7 was recovered the night stolen but held for a week (By the cops.) with the headlights on and windows down, in the rain. It was slagged full of "finger print dust" soaked to the bone with a dead big dollar battery so almost total loss, thanks PD you caught the guy and screwed me over.  :brickwall:

Yep, December 2003 I had a '97 Viper, '68 Hemi Roadrunner and a Harley stolen. Viper was recovered partially stripped, never saw the RR or Harley again.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

New Haven project vermin decided to hit our neighborhood on a Wednesday night last year. The females of the house left their keys in the cars and guess what they took? My car was locked, and my son was at work. 03:45 at the end of July. Got both cars back. New keys. Sold one to and kept one. Insurance scam was attempted while the cars were gone. Someone was trying a bodily injury scam when we weren't in possession of the car. My daughter's car was found the next day in New Haven CT. Wifes car was found on the side of the road in Westerly, Rhode Island. Her car had all of the lights on. Brought it to the dealer and had the codes read, they said might be ok, might need a transmission. Marketplace it was for that one.
Didn't they used to shoot horse thieves?

I don't live in Rio Linda where meth labs run amok, I'm fortunate enough to live in a nicer area.
Still, criminals often go to where the opportunities are and sometimes the nicer areas see thefts as well.
No, I've never dealt with losing a car due to theft. Call it luck or good karma, who knows why? I used to live in a housing tract with small lots. My Garage was tidy enough to park 2 cars inside but I've often had a few sitting outside too. I did come home to find two of my cars gone, towed away by the county for having outdated registration. That was my own fault....I thought that with as quiet as the street was that no cops would care to impound them. It was likely a neighbor complaint and in retrospect, I understand. I was the neighborhood gearhead with too many cars and even though the houses were not luxury estates, it wasn't Rio Linda either.
Rio Linda...where the homes are mobile and the cars aren't!

TS400 was stole in front of a bar in TX. I think they shoved it in the back of a pickup and hauled ass. The others were in nice condo parking lots, one GATED!

Never lost a whole car but think someone stole a steering column out of a junk 73 Charger we have sitting around
Went to look for it one day for the key lock parts and it was gone
next project 70 Charger FJ5 green

populated by uptight anal retentives. Us rural types know better than to run a string trimmer in loose gravel and how to not fall off roofs.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

If you live on the couch, you're never at risk of harm or of any fun.
I am not critical of rural people, just the spun out tweekers I've personally seen and dealt with in Rio Linda.
Shampoo and toothpaste sit on the shelves of the grocery stores there quite a bit longer than in my town.

Uptight and anal retentive?
Not where I am...more like clean, reasonably well dressed, self respecting types with cars without dents or mismatched tires.

None of that reflects on being uptight and anal retentive for whicb you are the poster boy. All you know about my town is what you've heard from that pompous POS Limbaugh and, like all of his dittoheads, you repeat it like the programmed robot you are.

If you ever had a thought that didn't didn't come from somebody else and mimic the party line........... :smilielol:
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

No, dipshit...I've been to Rio Linda. I've bought 5 or 6 cars from people there. I built a garage for a guy on Q street in 2007. I could name off 6 people that I know from the town. I've bought plywood from Frank Shaw and roofing tile from some business on Q street. Oh yeah...how about "Willard" on Raley Blvd? He actually came to my house with a buddy several years ago looking for Valiant parts....I heard he passed away.
You see a huge variance in quality there...One beautiful house then 5 ramshackle "structures" with waist high weeds, multiple unregistered and non operational cars parked where they were dumped. You used to have numerous junkyards on Straugh road that I went to many years ago. I used to shake my head at the scuzzy looking dudes that worked those junkyards!
I joke about the town but I know that it isn't all bad. It is more fun to insult the town since you live there and you are a pompous assclown.
My town....
I don't seem to encounter anyone that is uptight or snooty. Maybe that is because I don't have an inferiority complex. It isn't like I'm some huge guy with movie star looks, I'm just a regular dude that showers daily and cares about my appearance.
Try THAT. It might improve the reactions you get from the people that you interact with.

Kern Dog

To be fair, a google earth satellite photo would show my place looking like the only junkyard in town. I've made it a point to hide my stuff out of street view, under trees and behind buildings. I don't want to disrupt the semi-rural theme of the neighborhood.
The wife joked one time that if a car ran off the road into our back yard, it could be called a multi-car accident. Rescue workers would expect to find multiple victims but be surprised to find just one.

Nope, the exact opposite, an ego as big as all outdoors.

QuoteIt isn't like I'm some huge guy with movie star looks, I'm just a regular dude that showers daily and cares about my appearance.

And never misses an opportunity to flash pics of those movie star looks all over the www...classic ego-tripper.

The term ego-tripper is often used in a disapproving context to describe someone who seeks attention or validation for their self-importance.

If I looked as bad as you, I'd hide too.   :hah:
I'm not embarrassed of what I look like, nor am I afraid to let others recognize me. I own what I say and I back up my opinions to anyone that wants to confront me. I have honestly expected to see someone come up to me for the opinions that I have expressed but so far, I have only encountered friendly people.

Hey guys...Take a look at the post history of this guy Kunkel....You'll find that well over half of them are not about tech topics, current events, car shows or HIS Charger but they are directed toward me. I just looked. On the first page alone it is over 13 posts referring to me specifically.
This could be interpreted as an unhealthy obsession. Following others around just to comment on what they have to say sure isn't healthy.

So having never had a car stolen kern just keeps hijacking another topic with bickering....again.  :scratchchin:  This just keeps happening, now he will come back with some extended reply or post pictures because he thinks that my comment is an attack when really it's just a statement of FACT.
This bickering/insulting is why many don't come back.  :shruggy:

What a myopic person you are to only point a finger at me for this.
The loner follows me around like a stalker but somehow you only see what you want to see. You must have worked in the media given your blindness to the whole truth.

b5blue

See there it is, what no pictures?  :shruggy:  You attack and insult then defend, what ever dude.

Kern Dog

You must have missed the comment I made about having two cars towed.
I knew a guy that was pulled over for some reason and his car was impounded. He told people that the Police STOLE
his car..... :smilielol:

It doesn't take much research through recent threads to see that YOU are the most prolific instigator of personal insults and off-topic comments. That's the nature of ego-trippers who think their opinions on all subjects social, political and automotive are so exalted that everybody should bow in deference to their views/opinions.

You love to brag about your accomplishments so, tell us, how many forums have you been disciplined on (including this one) and have been outright banned from for such behavior?

QuoteThe loner follows me around like a stalker but somehow you only see what you want to see.

Gawd, not that B.S. again. Nobody is stalking a self-absorbed ego-tripper like you, that's your inflated ego and paranoia talking.  :fu:

Anyone can look up your post history and see it.

Your ego sees it that way, I simply read the various threads and respond when I deem it appropriate no matter who the author is. It's mere coincidence that you're the author much of the time...some call it being a "post whore".
