So got a question on my original rv2 compressor in a 1970 charger. How easy should the compressor fully rotate when pressurized? I pulled the clutch as the bearing seamed to be making noise. The compressor shaft rotates to a hard point and gets very hard to rotate. Thinking piston is just making pressure but also don't want to force anything and break something.

You're thinking correctly, any compressor will become harder to turn as it reaches the top of the compression stroke.

Thank you. The torque was just getting to the i might need a longer wrench part. So figured I should check.  I break enough things as it is.

Definetly harder than the more modern Sandens and Denso compressors.  When a V2 compressor is uncharged it rotates easy and is quiet.  Once it builds up pressure they take more power to rotate and become a little more noisy.

Even though the Sanden is often called a "rotary" compressor, it's just a bunch of smaller pistons driven by a wobble plate instead of a crankshaft. The larger number of smaller pistons makes it easier to turn on the compression stroke.Sanden.PNG
