68 hood latch too tight

I feel like my hood has too much pressure on it when it's latched on my 68.  The latch is as high as possible, what other adjustments can I make?  The adjustable rubber bumps have even body lines, maybe the fender needs adjusting?

Not sure what you mean by that, have you tried temporarily removing them?

Sorry John, that didn't make sense.  I had previously had the adjustable bumps lower, but the hood didn't line up with the fenders.  I recently got it painted and was trying to fix the gap and alignment.  Seems to me that the pressure is excessive when I release the latch.  And I actually am missing the pop-up spring.
