Stripe Delete Daytona Question

This question came up on a prior post in the General Discussion section.  It got me wondering if any such Daytona's or 500's actually came withOUT the stripe on the car from Creative Industries?

It seem to be a question befitting to the AERO section!

Anybody know anything about this......does such a car/cars exist and if so, any photographic evidence?

I cant recall knowing of any daytona I see being a documented stripe delete car in my years around the wingcars.I know people are sometimes confused by the V88 delete .which means they deleted the 69 charger stripe. To put the daytona stripe inplace of

:iagree: your right , that probably is the case people seeing  V88 on a XX29 charger and thinking it means the same as on a XS29 charger.

From what I hear there really is at least one true stripe-delete Daytona.  I have not seen pictures of it, but IIRC it was documented (through a dealer's order form, or something of the sort) as having been spec'd out without the Daytona stripe.  I do know that Mike G. and Gary at Dayclona are familiar with this particular car I'm thinking of...

Here are a couple of past threads dealing with this same topic:

question to ponder, V88 C500's and Daytona's

True X9 black 69 daytona how many known

In the first link on the second page, I posted a Factory Bulletin that indicates it was possible to omit the stripe.  Here is that same memo again:

69_500

If anyone remembers wasn't MsMopars Hemi 500 stripe delete as far as anyone could recall. I remember her having some very old photo's of the car without its stripe. I could be mistaken on that one, but I think it was minus the stripe from the begining.

Highbankhaulers car was minus part of the stripe at the start wasn't it? Like missing the part on the deck lid or something like that?

There would have to be documentation somewhere for this, as I'll wager that Creative would have installed a stripe of their own color choice barring any explicit instructions to omit the stripe.  Don't forget, that the stripe is the only place on the car that spells out "Daytona".  Chances are, the few cars that were built that way were special ordered for someone who just flat didn't want a stripe.  You'd think there would be all sorts of documentation for that - like "Are you SURE you don't want a stripe?  Are you REALLY SURE you don't want a stripe?" and maybe a legal disclaimer to prove that the dealer did try to talk them out of it...   :P

Good question.  I know they filled the holes with something, but I didn't think they welded the holes up first.  They probably just gobbed up the holes with some of that non-hardening "Dum-Dum" stuff that was used for other "oops" problems.  You wouldn't be able to tell from the outside, but they didn't worry about smoothing out the inside of the trunk panels.  My suspicions are that if the mistake was caught by Hamtramck, they fixed the quarter emblems AND swapped the tail panel emblem out too (including touching up or re-shooting the Organosol).  If the car went to Creative, I suspect that C.I. fixed the quarter emblem holes but left the R/T emblem in the tailpanel.  Hard to say exactly what happened, and it doesn't make all that much difference anyway.

Maybe one of the guys with this treatment on their cars would let us know how they repaired the holes?

I haven't ever seen any Daytona's that have evidence of having the R/T badges origionally on them. The only one I can think of that might be that way is the Dale Reeker Daytona, the one that doesn't fit anywhere in the list of VIN's, that is built in February, but I doubt even that one was. Reason being that I have only seen filled in holes on some of the very early Charger 500's. By the time they got to my cars build date in November, there isn't any holes.
Its my understanding that you could get a Charger V88, stripe delete, but that you could also get it badge delete as well. Which is how the 500's were when they left for Creative Industries. There is a list from Creative for the Daytona's showing the stripe colors for them, but I haven't ever seen a list for the 500's.

I've only seen three color of stripes on the C500's......Black,White & Red that I can remember   :shruggy:

wow   44k.       unrestored  , looks :scope: good  got any more pictures etc .      to me  looking at a 500 with out a stripe ,it looks like it defiantly should have one, unlike a XS or XP , it might be something to do with the flush rear glass, and or  you are use to seeing them without a stripe , as opposed to a 500   :-\

I know about the HEMI Daytona in the picture as well. It isn't a factory black car though.

The F8 HEMI 500 I don't recognize right off hand.

This is awesome guys....thanks for all your input and info.

..........I really like that Black Daytona also, but I like that other Hemi Daytona with the white pinstripe on it and factory chrome Magnum 500's on it........as a matter of fact BigBlockSam has that very pic on all his posts.
