I finally got all my parts to do my 4 speed conversion (when I get home from korea) for some reason I think I need a diffrent cross member...or was that just for theĀ  5 speeds?

Hey check out the Console pistol grip!

Chryco Psycho

the tranny you have looks like a newer then 69 trans , the original trans had the mount further forward requiring a different crossmember , if you use a later tranny the mount is in the same place as theautomatic & uses the same crossmember

Chryco,

Are you saying that a '70 tranny mount is the same in an auto or stick car? How about the 833 OD...can you use the newer auto mount?

Thanks

not sure on the 70 , but the tranny was different not the mount so the Auto crossmember works on all E body & 71 up including OD 833s

Thanks. I was thinking the '70 B bodies still used different mounts. Good to know for the Challenger conversion though.

A little hard to tell but that trans looks like an earlier model, mount pad is more centered and no provison for the rear shifter mount.

So you're saying it is a later model tranny it will work as is?

Thanks

Yes , the early 4 spd had the mount in a different location , by 70 with the E body the 4 spd was modified to be in the same location as the auto trans & will bolt in usin gthe auto crossmember ``````````

Thanks Chryco!

Well one one gee whiz, the tail shafts with two mount pads for the shifter...is that the "old" one or and "E" body one?

Thats what I said earlier, the trans in the pic looks like a '68-69 box with the single shifter mount location and the more centered trans mount pad. The later ones have 2 shifter mount spots.

If the trans is "early" you can probably cut the "cover" off the center "basket" of your AT X-member and your mount should fit in there.
