Power steering pump leaking

I have grown weary of cleaning up the puddles from under the engine and tracked the leak to the power steering pump.  It's not the front shaft that's leaking, but actually seems to be coming from around the steering pump reservoir cap?!  The level is low again, I've already refilled it once this year.

I ordered a rebuild kit from my local parts dealer and will tackle the job later this week, but any advise or suggestions are welcome.  I read a recent article in Mopar Muscle on how to do it, but any additional advise welcome.

Is this a relatively common leak for our cars?

You can still buy them rebulit, I did one on the 68 Runner last year and cost $50.00 or something like that and well worth the money. Mine was a Fedural style and Saganaw can still be had.

If memory serves, Fedural has the high pressure line off the side and the Saginaw has it coming off the back.  I ordered the Fedural kit and wish to give it a try first to retain the stock pump.  If the leak persists or I find something broken upon dissasssembly, then I'll replace the pump.

Appreciate the advise!
