68 vs 69 doors

Can the 68 door lock mechanism be modified to fit 69 upper door pads?  I have spare 68 doors for my 69 and the only diffence (I believe) is the location of the door lock.  Can this lock be relocated so I can use the upper door pads from my 69

its most likely possible, u could always drill a hole in the upper door pad and wled the 69 hole and get it recovered so u cannot see where the 69 hole was-MATT,( modifying the doors might be alittle bit harder)

Do you know what it would take to modify the doors?  The door pads that I have are perfect and I would not want to ruin them if I don't have to.

I am facing the same issue (I have '69 pads and '68 doors on my '68). I looked at it and rather than cut the door and modify the lock rods, i am just going to totally remove the inside locks. This way if I ever find a set of 68 pads I like, I can put it back with no headaches.

What do you mean by remove the inside locks?  WOuld you be able to lock the car doors?

You can lock the doors outside with a key. The inner lock is attached to the mechanism via rods. Remove the whole inside lock rod assembly and the outer door look will still function as it should.

That's what I needed to know.  If you are interested I just put my 68 door pad in the p[arts for sale section!

what if you TRY to make your own iinner lock rod like a zigzag or something like a diagonal up to pivot link until match the upper door pad ?

what ever I don't think relocate the 69 rods on to a 68 doors are something impossible to make. I never have seen that assembly, but commonly rods are just attached on to doors with a pivot link bolted and then arriving with another rod up to latch. I think with just one or two holes to bolt/relocate the pivot link will be enough, beside the lock knob hole itself and the right 69 rods.

You have the exactly pivot position on your original 69 door to make the holes  ( if you have the door of course )

I DON'T REALLY KNOW how is the assembly, but just some ideas about MY idea about how is internally the door... I don't think hard to make
