I don't think people go looking for an SE specifically, I think its just what they happen to find cheap enough to buy. The HI-PO cars are out of most people budget unless they are needing a lot of work. Like the 2 I have, 71 383 super bee and a 74 360 4-speed rallye, need lots of work. They were the right deals at the right time.

Actually the 73-74 S/Es are my favorite 3rd generation cars because of the side windows and the coupe look. I have had 3 3rd generation cars, ALL of em were these.

I like the opera windows on the SE and the buldge hood on the rallye.

You gotta be kiddin',

have the 3rd gen prices really gone up that much? I guess it's all about location. I only paid $8,500 for my '71 bee 383 4-spd. it had new paint and interior when I snagged it 6 yrs. ago. the only reason that I even really liked this car, is it came with the optional bucket seats and hide away headlights and who doesn't like that pistol grip?

I know of a pretty decent '73 black SE 318 car that I can pick up for around $1,000 right now. I also know of a very nice '70 Charger R/T 440 six pac that is going for $20,000. I tell you, it's all about location.

I have never liked the rear quarter window on 72 SEs but I dont own one, so it doesnt bother me.  Besides, if I did, I would just remove the plug and convert it back to regular 72 quarter windows, no big deal.

I preffer the quarter window shape of 72 SE than regulars. But STILL LIKES MORE 73/74s :D and that's one of the reasons why I likes more 73/74 than earliers: size and shape. I don't like 73/74 SEs louvers

Isn't that what most women say.... they prefer the size and shape :D

And I love the '73/'74 SE louvers.

I think opera windows are gay.  :icon_smile_cool:  Muscle cars shouldn`t have them.  Just Kidding....sort of.  I`ve never liked them very much.

billfury

I like the rear 1/4 windows on the 72 SE. 73 & 74's are cool, just don't like the way the bumpers extend out and the fillers.

i personally adore the 72 sloped 1/4 windows  ;D but thats probably cause thats what i have.. so im biased. but one thing, i wish the strait bumper of the 70 was on my 72, ah well...

i found my charger in a junkyard, mostly still together. engine was done in held about 3 1/2 gallons of water in crankcase, but trans was rebuildable. suspension just needed a kit.. crazy thing is the body is 99% strait. small ding in front left fender, and drivers door kinda chewed..

best part is i had a 1990 olds 88 delta w/ blown trans and engine was on the way out. with much smoothe talking , and 4 visits in the span of a week, i got the owner of the yard to even-swap me the charger for the delta! oh i love the barter system!!

I keep looking in the yards around here, it is not easy finding sheet metal in good shape for the 73-74 Chargers.  You would think there are  more since more were made.
