New Full Quarters?

STARK

Hi Guys, been looking around at the different sources of sheet metal out their, I myself have used the quarter skins from Year One in the past for a customers car at my shop to repair his 69 Charger the quality of the AM (after market panel) and the cut of the original panel on the car made more work than I like to do. OEM panels we install on cars today makes it easy for the Teck to install the panel the way he will chose to cut it for installation ease! Any way you may have been watching the New full quarters on eBay, these are test panels from stamps that are being made over seas and may NOT fit your car right, not to mention the price is Crazy!
New Panels are coming are way all the time now, the business of Restoration has become Big Business and the market for the panels we need to restore our cars are being made right now and will be back by Mopar Dealerships! One such outfit I spoke with this morning is AUTO METAL DIRECT (1-866-591-8309) I spoke with a guy named Allen. They are getting set to have the new full quarters in buy the end of next month for around $699.00 bucks! Roof skins as well and new hoods for $599.00 and fenders RT and LT for $499.00. Not to bad in my book and of course others will follow with the same parts. They have a web page but it is not up yet. Hey I like to buy OEM and from folks that are not out to kill me price wise, and I do like to eBay for parts, but I would like to keep it real, new I am here but all ready I have seen that you guy's do well buy each other when it comes to selling part's and cars here, instead of on eBay and that is a good thing between Charger lovers! I also have seen you guy's talk about gluing on panels or welding, at my shop we glue on every thing except rails and core supports, but I still add in a plug weld here and their just for peace on mind! One point I trying to make is that we can help set the market on what is made new, and how much we pay for it. Me I am just getting started in restoring my cars, I have done others for diferent people and places I have worked in the past, so I hope to post here what I am about to do and for those that have been their and done that can shed some light on my projects to save time and money I look forward to your opinions!

Thanks

I am not sure what auction you are refering to, but the Classic Body Design quarter panels are made in the USA while the upcoming AMD quarter panels are made overseas...  Yes, there is a BIG difference in retail price - $700 each vs $2500 each, but the CMD quarter panels are ready to ship NOW.

It might be a different game when the AMD quarters do arrive, but the last I heard they were still having problems producing them.  CBD had problems early on too, but worked them out...

Do you have conflicting information?  Lets hear it!  :shruggy:

I may be missinformed friend, I sure do not know it all hell I never herd of CMD just a newbe and my point of view! Any way the price differance is something else. Their were 4 full quarters on ebay, one is still their and appears to be a unprimed skin, the seller says they are made in the USA, and I would like to see alot more of that, just not such a high price to pay to put my car and yours back on the road!

Last I knew the ones on eBay are the big dollar ones with a reasonable opening bid, but high reserve (which I haven't seen met yet).

STARK

They may be and I may have jumped the gun, hope I don't affend .

No problem! Thanks for participating! I think just about everyone here is really paying attention to what is going down with all this stuff. I highly suggest to any new comers visiting the site go search the archives on a topic they are interesed in. There is lots of info to gather from the old posts. The stuff visable from the first and second pages doesn't come close to what is available. And with old and new members pitching in their ongoing experience, it makes this board and invaluable resource.

I believe these seller is Ron Lushia, the owner of Classic Body Designs, based on the auction pictures and item location listed in the advert.

No offense taken... just trying to see if you had information that I did not.  I have a set of CBD quarter panels, but they have not been installed yet... BUT look great!  I believe that Ron will work with potential buyers to sell them a set... but I am not sure.

Several board members have purchased the CBD panels, hopefully someone will install a set soon... maybe BB1:

Wow I am in Heaven, thanks for the info and I will be more cautious in the future. Now is their a specific place to post a build thread as I go along? Or do you all just post them in different sections as you work the car? I do some R/C submarines and post a lot about my work on www.SubPirates.com their we have specific place for our members to post their build threads. My section is CBS Wolfpack One and I tend to post all in that, but for general use we have a builders section for each guy's project. I should mention we have 354 members so it is not to crowed!

Thanks a Bunch Brian

Mine from CBD are not installed yet but look great. The door skins were a perfect fit though.

AMD is months late on original promises. Maybe soon? Don't know.  :shruggy:
