Welcome to the forum, jon...  and everybody, be nice to the Ford guy   Tongue

There is a lot of neat history surrounding the Talladegas & Cyclones, and I would personally love to see the restoration pics.  It's great that you're restoring it with your son too - my son hasn't gotten past Lego's just yet, so we have a ways to go before things like that.

Look forward to seeing you at Talladega in '09 - that's been my goal since I first bought my Daytona too!

Sounds like the King Cobra. The front end reminds me of a Datsun 240Z.

In answer to your question Charger punk. The most obvious is the 6-8 in fender ext ans the sloped nose. The rockers were rolled differently. They made 747-754 it dependes on which expert that you ask. They made 199 Presidential Blue ones,259 Royal Maroon,286 White. There are 45 Blue ones left in existence 69 Maroon and 54 White these numbers are as of the last registry. They also came with staggered rear shocks and a nodular rear center section with 3.25 gears and no posi?Huh and an oil cooler.Something usually reserved for 4 spd, drag pack cars. They were all 428 cars with c-6 A/T,all were colunm shifted. They were built from mid-jan to the end of feb.My car was built Jan 30 1969 #147 Talladega built.Amother guy on the board,Doug Schellinger actually runs the regisry now my have more answers.I hope this helps.Jon Wood

Hey Jon, nice car and welcome to the site.  There seems to be nothing but Fords where I live so you won't get any flack from me.  No Talladega-no Daytona.  Of course, no 500- no Talladega.  icon_smile_big

Welcome to the site. I thought that Mike Atkins had bought every talladega that was left.

Only kidding.

I wasn't aware that there weren't any 4 speed Talladega's.

Welcome aboard!
One interesting tidbit I read somewhere is that the front & rear bumpers on Talladega's are the same, the front is just V'd a bit more in the middle.

iagree I think they only made 4 or 5 of these?

...and only one of these, if I recall?

69 500.Mike is a great guy. When I first got my car in May 03 he invited me up to his place and gave me the Freedom to photograph everything that he had.His Collection is incredible. He has 12 Talladegas,3-4 Cyclones(Cale Y and Dan G).a Charger 500,4-5 Superbirds and a Daytona. He has 1 Talladega that must have been an executive prototype w/ pwr windows. When my family and I went to the 04 reunion,Mike allowed us to ride around the track in his Vitamin C 'bird. My son who was 8 at the time got to ride in the front seat.He talks about that experience all the time.

I've known Mike Atkins since I was probably 2 years old. I have some photo's from the early 80's when he had about a dozen Superbirds all over his property. At that time I thought that he had about 15 or so Talladega's. I could be wrong, but they were all lined up behind a building on his property.

I've got a lot of them. Posted quite a few of them over on Moparts a few years back, wound up being a huge thread. VINTAGE DAYTONA and Superbird pics.
