Hi group and happy new year to you all.

For those of you who have sobered up after new year, here is a question :icon_smile_wink:

Were engines colored according to size or year?
I have been exposed to Muscle car only since one year now, and have owned a few of them ranging between 70-74.
From what the mechanics have so far mentioned, my understanding is that:
1. 316 is light blue
2. 383 magnum is orange. Is every magnum painted orange too?
3. 400 is red
4. 440 is yellow

Is this accurate or what is ???

Thanks

To answer your questions :

(1) 318's were blue
(2) 383 magnums came in blue and orange
(3) 400's were blue....i don't remember seeing a red one
(4) 440's were blue and orange....yellow is not an original color.

sorry little confused (not hard)
so is that chart showing which engines were Magnums or standard
we have a 73 Charger with 400 cubit engine in blue - & have been told (not too reliably(sp?) that its a Magnum .....but I'm sure one of you guys would have mentioned that years ago)
