I disassembled my wiper arms four years ago while restoring my 73 charger and now I cant get it back together.
I have tried to assemble the arm and linkedge all differant ways and it just keeps binding up.
I have picks but I'm having a hard time uploading them.
Any help would be appreciated.
OK I got the pics loaded allthougr they seem kinda big.
Dose any see my problem

Just 6T9 CHGR

The linkage looks OK to me in the pics.   The binding problem is probably the wiper pivots themselves (part where wiper arm attaches to)

Looking close it looks like there is a grease fitting on one of them (& one is broken off ??? )

I'd disassemble those & clean & lube them up real well....

I'll check the fittings and regrease them.
Let ya no how that works.

Thanks NACHO
I looked at the pics from the link you sent and I can tell right away that I am missing the entire assembly that connects to the motor/transmission.
Do you know if the pics you sent apply to a 3rd gen car 1973 B Body.
Thanks for the help.

Nacho-RT74

all hidden wipers cars use that system. That is the parking cam

In fact those pics ARE ACTUALLY MY assembly... 74.

Well I hate to bring up an old topic but I still cant get it right.
NACHO I bought the parking cam assembly that you showed in your pics, something still ain't right.
The pics that you show of your wiper arm has a lot wider opening where it attaches to the parking cam.
My control arm is different ???
Notice the pic, The control arm wont fit around the parking cam.
Anymore thoughts on this?
Thanks.
David

The pic didn't upload.
Here we go.

I have noticed something weird on some assemblies, and it looks related with variable speeds or 2 or 3 speeds setups. Not really sure about that. On my catalog appears same setups to 2 and 3 speeds but Mopar parts dealer catalogs are generic in some cases.

what is wrong... dunno really

I'm noticing that hole is same size and shape than the pivot bushings, so maybe that assembly use the same pivot bushings still available on Mopar dealers as far I know... now I'm wondering how the hell wipers will hide down the hood with that assembly or make the good track over the windshield

Thats the problem.
The wipers only work one revelution and then they just bind up.
I think I'm going to try buying the whole armassembly.
Thanks

Well i'm not really sure.
I have the wiper switch and it has three positions on it.
turn it to the right and one notch, two notch, three notch.
I assumed it was a three speed.

probably you have the right arm and everything, just need to get the plastic bushing. The topic I made was basically 2 speed since MY assembly is 2 speed, but since you didn't specified then it could be confusing.

Now about how the 3 or variable speed is assemblied, sorry I don't know. I'm still trying to imagine how the 3 speeds ( or variable ) does work to relocate the wipers when is hidding or working on glass without a parking cam

BTW, I'm needing the parking cam kit, so I can get it from you if you got a new kit to help you on get the right stuff to your assembly.

I have the parking cam kit.
It's used but in good shape.

400/6/PAC

Ok
Heres what I found out.
My 73 charger had a wiper control arm part # 3431-647-58622
I pulled a control arm off another 73    part # 3431-646-58622
They look identical except for the hole at the end where it mounts to the wiper motor.
also notice in the pics the connector from the motor to the arm.
One has an 1/8 inch offset and the other has a 3/4 inch offset.
Funny thing is, They both came off a 73 charger with 3 speed wiper.

Nacho-RT74

both 3 speeds ? sure ?

remember variable AND 3 speeds looks identical from exterior... dunno really whats the difference beside PN ( I think ) and/or switch

3 speeds switch of course does have 3 stops beside the off position.
Variable is OFF, then click and continuous trace up to higher speed when there is another click as far I remember.

Damn, too much doubts about the same hehehe. But I'm thinking on a upgrade and want to get the right stuff

All I know is that they both had the same motor, transmission and switch but there were different control arms with different part #s.
One had a parking cam and the other didn't.
What do you think might be the difference?
I know one thing!!!!!!!!! I got mine working :icon_smile_tongue:

Nacho-RT74

that is reaaaaally weird then... you could get from dealer hidden or not wipers ?.

Cranks theorically have a cut to fit on only one position on motor shaft... are both ( the offset and the ore straightened ones ) the same cut/shape to fit on shaft ?
