Anyone know what years interchange on the gm opti spark ignition? I heard 94-95 only but some people say 94 and up will all work. The car im looking at is a 95 caprice with the lt1. Owner says optispark needs to be replaced.

94 and 95 Opti's are vented, which is better. The early opti's are not vented and have problems with moisture getting inside and shutting them down. The cap and rotor in the opti can be worn out causing a misfire. They can be replaced without replacing the opti. Problem is getting to it is such a pain, by the time you have it off you should replace it all anyway.
