I know there was an earlier thread, but what do I need to do to prep a chrome bumper for paint?

jaak

Although I havent tried it, a bodyman told me to strip the chrome with a DA sander using 80 grit paper, then fill any pits etc using a polyester filler (glaze), finish the glaze with a finer paper, then epoxy prime it. then finish and prep like any other panel.

thats exactly the same way we do it but if you do it blast and paint youre brackets first blast and prime the bumper , put it on the car and adjust it, then mask off the brackets and paint the bumper with the brackets attached unmask them and install the bumper

OK guys I started sand blasting the bumpers, They seem to be dulled but it has not removed the chrome, how much do you have to do before you prime?
