headlights cut out after a min with high beams on

actually all the lights die out if i put the high beams on for a couple mins. if i switch em off they go back on (thank god) i should sort this out before the new driving season i think :)........Mike

sounds like the circuit breaker in the headlight switch is toast- high beams draw more current and the unit then opens then cools down.

mmm where would that be? my goal is to someday rewire the whole damn car. its got alot of butcher work done to it over the years..........Mike

the circuit breaker is built inside the headlight switch itself. so to correct this-two ways

one- replace it with a good used one or new one.

two- convert over to relays to power the headlights off the alt. power connection with fuses.
