hi guys

I'm a little closer to having my wing car.  :boogie:

i picked up the daytona nose from Larry, Datonalo . the stinger nose is good for the money but it needs lotsa bodywork to be correct and the light doors do not fit correctly and need lotsa work to make them work. keep the light doors and buckets and throw away the rest of there light kit .
this nose works great! they open and close just like the originals and all the moving parts are metal .he made me a real nice grill , all metal and looks correct. i chose a none correct mesh , i like the way it looks .. i also have the correct mesh if i would like to change it in the future.  i can't find my vacuum pump , when i do i will post a short vid of them working. I'm using vacuum restricter's in the lines , to slow them down to the correct speed . they stay up  well and stay closed when in the down position. it has an adjustable stop for the up and down position. two vacuum lines to each side . i have the correct vacuum can and hoses on my charger so it should just be plug and play .
Larry sandblasted and powder coated all the vacuum plates and the z brackets . the z brackets are great. he boxed them for strength .  they are solid and don't move plus they have the mounting bolts for the signal lights , real nice!  plus i can remove the  light pods  in 2 minutes.

all the other body work issues will be done after the nose is mounted on the car .here's some pics . Rene

What's with the big gap at the bottom of both lights?

Is the seam line along the side of the nose the way it comes from Stinger?

thats the best your gonna get the light doors to fit from stinger. that'll be fixed when the bodywork is done . no bodywork has been done to this nose yet.

QuoteIs the seam line along the side of the nose the way it comes from Stinger

the nose comes that way from stinger. i believe its a two piece mould. as i said in an earlier post , the bodywork will be done after the nose is mounted. here is a picture of Larry's  stinger daytona nose after bodywork. thats when those issues get resolved. I'm surprised you didn't know that Doug .

Doug , the gap on the bottom will close up when vacuum in applied , although the curve of the doors do not match up to nose . Spoke to Artie about this , he said he will try to correct problem , not bad for very little money

I haven't followed the clone parts that closely.  All I know about Stinger is that  "they need work".

boy, thats an under statment. that line you are talking about comes that way from stinger. i believe they make the nose in two pieces. then join them . thats the seam. Rene

Gotcha.   That's the part that doesnt line up with the fenders correct?  Something about taking a section out of the nose side?

BigBlockSam

yes, it doesn't match the contour of the fenders. some people leave it like that and it looks ok . larry split his there to get it rite . i'll fgure out how to fix that when i get it mounted . Rene    :boogie: :boogie:

Let me recap , the headlight doors are slightly high on corners , stingers problem . The side of nose is somewhat flat compared to the radius of 70 fenders , as Rene mention , that seem on side is from the split mold , and in this area is the problem . I cut mine on that edge you see in pic , pushed outwards , and re-glassed it , ton of work , but thats what I do .At one time I thought about making a Daytona nose , but would never recoup my investment . Larry

BigBlockSam

a blast from the past , just reading some of my old posts . and tell Daytonalo that the lights in the  nose is still working great .
