I just found out tonight that a member in our car club up here in the Black Hills lost several mopars in a fire here around thanksgiving a sad day indeed. He has at least four mopars that I know of and he lost a 70 Challenger convertible that he had it all ready to paint and then next was a 69 Charger 500 440 car which was also ready for paint and then last but not least his 69 Charger Daytona 440 which wasn't fixed up yet which didn't make it but at least his 69 Charger 383 4speed tan top made it since it was in a different shop and weird thing on top of all this was they just had a big flood in that area this fall and they were some of the lucky ones to make it through that.

I realize this stuff is just material things and you can't take it with you when you go but it left a knot in my stomach when I heard it tonight and on top of that you hate to see it happen to good man especially since he is a Mopar man that is his passion and not some collector/investor just trying to make a buck!

Sorry for the heavy stuff but I guess I just had to vent.

WOW, that is sad for sure!  Are the cars totally destroyed?  Was this a result of the arson fires reported about on the news?

I hope he can rebuild his passion for the hobby... I am not sure that I could.

I now have a knot in my stomach... but thanks for telling us.

I won't be wronged, I wont be Insulted and I wont be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to others, and I require the same from them.

Definately not something I like to hear.

I definately hope though that he doesn't just let the insurance companies scrap the cars. Even if they are burnt, or damaged, I'd rather see them still out there than sent off to a scrap yard. Especially the 500 and the Daytona. Or at least have the information so that in the future someone would know if it was the same car.

I had talked to his son last night and thats about all I know right now but I will see his dad at our annual party here in about two weeks and hopefully get to talk to him then and see how its going.

I think if I had that much precious metal sitting in one spot I'd be seriously thinking about investing in a sprinkler system among other things... security cameras, alarms, bars on the windows, you name it.
