HERE ARE A FEW PICS OF MY HINGES AND INSTALL OF TRUNK CAP . IN A FEW SPOTS THEIR WERE BIG GAPS BETWEEN CAP AND DECK LID , I SIMPLY RELIEVE CUT DECK LID AND TWEAKED METAL TO FIT CAP, AND THEN WELDED UP RELIEF CUT . AT FIRST I WAS GOING TO INSTALL NUT PLATE IN DECKLID TO FASTEN HINGES , I RECONSIDERED AND SIMPLY WELDED NUTS TO U CHANNEL , ALTHOUGH I WOULD NOT STAND FOR SLOPPY VISIBLE WELDS , SO I PLUG WELDED CHANNEL TO DECK LID .

Here is a cheap tip , I have been using Cold galvanising spay  from Home Depot as weld-through primer for years . I simply use dental pick to scrape off primer in plug weld . I also plug welded cap

how do you adjust the trunk lid? did you cut channels into the hinge?  shruggy

About half an inch , much less than factory hinges .
