Speaking of fire destroyed wing cars...

I was just watching one of John Pappas videos, it was the one for the 83 Mopar Nats, and after showing a clip of a 71 Hemi Charger RT, it mentioned that one year after the video was shot the car was lost in a warehouse fire.  It mentioned that a 70 Hemi Cuda, a 70 Superbird and a 69 Daytona were lost in the same fire.  I know the 71 Charger was a Michigan car at the time of the video so I'm assuming all of the cars lost were from the Detroit area as well.  Ring a bell with anyone?

It rings a bell with me. I remember a guy on moparts mentioned his 71 Charger (I think it was a 71) was destroyed in a fire...pretty sure it was a warehouse. I'll go dig up that post.

Early 80's there was a large warehouse / storage bldg fire destroyed many rare muscle and classic cars, Dan Jennings F6 green daytona was one of the lost

seam to remember a big collection burnt to the ground , a few hemis were lost even said a hemi challenger convertable  & showed a picture of it from memory , hmmmm think they have all been accounted for still alive , re body  , anyway think it was in California , late 80s  or 1990  might of been shown in the muscle car classisc mag  not sure

Mitchell Motors had a fire a long time ago too, but I don't recall the year & location. From what I do remember, they lost a lot of their parts inventory as well.

In 1985 or 86 I bought a complete F6 green nose and hood latch tray from Mich.  The car was supposedly burnt to the ground in a garage fire, but the nose was in the basement of the house.  The nosecone was severly dented up and beat out with a ballpeen hammer. I still have the nosecone, it has a superman "S" painted on the front with a spraybomb. The nose internals and latchtray are on my Hemi Daytona convertible. When the nose arrived to the Yellow Freight Depot here in Ct., they called me up and said "your tractor parts are here" LOL! Inside the nose, I found one of the wing support brackets that gets bolted to the trunk floor.  Wingnut

i dont remember any wing cars,  but reggie jackson had a bad warehouse fire  ruined some nice e body's and brand x cars

OK...Heres some info from Moparts.

"Hey Doug, I remember that day! It was also very warm here in MI. & I drove my (now deceased) '71 Hemi Charger R/T to my folks that day! My plate had expired in Nov. & I wasn't planning on driving it til spring & figgered I'd never get pulled over. Well, I was about 3 miles from home - just driving alongside the Wixom Lincoln assembly plant, when a Wixom cop pulls me over for expired plates!!! AND writes me a ticket! What's the odds of that happening?"

"Burned-up in a huge multi-floor building in Hamtramick (Detroit) in Aug. 84. My car was on a third floor - believe me, it was a TOTAL loss. That was the day I wrote-off Detroit. They said some kid set the building ablaze. Over 100 collectors cars were lost. It was a sad day for many. Never keep all your cars of a large collection in the same place. "

"Yep, that was the Jenning's car, & it was a beaut. F5 green, white wing, white interior. There was also a Lemon 440-6 'Bird in there. "
