Holley carb tuning 101

How do you tune a Holley? Last night I took it apart. (see my other thread) I cleaned out all the ports, passages, throats, etc., polished up the outside a little and reassembled it. Got it back on the car and adjusted the idle mixture screws by achieving the smoothest, highest idle possible at 800 RPM in park. I adjusted the accelerator pump so the actuating lever rests against the plunger shaft firmly. It gets a good shot of gas as soon as the throttle opens.

There is a plate in the secondary float bowl. What is that?

How do I size the primary jets correctly?

I am going for a ride now and see how it performs as it is.

BTW the Holley is running very sweet now. I think my problem was the accelerator pump adjustment was off, and the chrome fuel line was leaking like you said. How does it feel to be right all the time?   :bow:
