Since Carlisle is just a bit over three weeks away I figured maybe it was time for an official Carlisle thread. Here's what I know so far...

We will, once again, have a tent. The tent is 20'x20' so feel free to bring your chairs and/or coolers and stay for a while. You can bring a grill too - maybe we can have a hot dog grilling contest with Dave (4cruzin) over in the C-C.com tent. Wink Once again, it doesn't appear that we'll have any idea where the tent will be located until we arrive at the show.

One curve ball thrown at us this year is that every tent must have some sort of banner. There will be a contest for the "most creative banner" with an award will be given out on Sunday. I'd suggest using a plasma cutter to carve out the logo on one of the fine trunk pans found here in the midwest but it would likely end up looking like 'O' and/or someone would end up needing a tetanus shot. Maybe we should just go with the construction paper and white glue approach... Cheesy

In case anyone is interested in helping out... the tent costs (me) $160. We could also use some refreshments (water, soda, etc.) if you'd like to chip in.

I have no idea who is going so it would be helpful to post here so members know who to look for. We can set up a group meeting like we have in the past if people are interested. Some of the vendors (or just members in the swap meet) have asked if we could move this to later in the day since noon on Saturday is probably the busiest time of the entire weekend. Should we try a phone number list/exchange? The t-shirts should be here in time for the show so maybe it will be easier to recognize other members.

I think several of us are staying in the same hotel. Usually there is an informal gathering each night so if you miss us during the day then come hang out with us later on.

Speaking of hotels, now is the time to try to reserve a block of rooms for next year (2009). If we get a large enough block we can qualify for a discount so be sure to let me or hemigeno know if you're interested.

Hey Troy count me in for being at the show. Getting the rear end swapped out in the car next week so all will be well for the 500+ miles of driving.

Dang, they are charging for a tent this year? I thought we had an insider from the show getting us the "perks"? Oh well, you can count on me for a donation for the tent.

I say you just sign a few trunk lids for $20 a pop, and your whole trip will be paid for.  Tongue

Had to pay for the tent last year too... our "insider" made sure we got one in the middle of the 68-70 Charger section.

If we have 25 (pre?) registered cars in the show then the tent is free. Last year we had 9.

It's on my bucket list.  Some day.

With a paypal addy I'd throw some $$ at it and be there in spirit.   Wink
I know Troy won't ask for any help, unlike our last administrator.  But we had a box for donations to help with the site at a couple of the DC.com meets in Kent.  scratchchin  I realize money is tight right now for lotsa folks, just a thought...
