So my '72 is finally being reassembled (it's painted!  OMG!), and I'm having trouble finding the right door pins & bushings.  I got this kit from paddock:

- the description says it covers this year and model, but the body shop is telling me it's not the right part.  He's going to send pics later, but in the meantime, does anyone know where to get a correct pin/bushing set for a '72 charger?

old vs. new bushing -- note that the old one is thicker, seems to be larger outer diameter, and is knurled:

old vs. new pin -- seems to be larger o.d. as well:

So anyone have suggestions where I can get one that will fit?

I don't know if we can talk about old bushings I think factory assemblies never did get bushings, was the pin directly to bare metal. At leats thats the way mines were assemblied. I fit for the first time the bushings on mines.

about your question... I can't tell you for sure. I know about rebuilt services what includes also new springs and rollers ( if thats the kind of hinges ). I saw them at Carlisle but they told me they don't sell the parts, just offer the service.

I just went to a hardware store and got pins and matching bushings. Pins were longer and I just cut the off at the propper size, then a welding point.

Hm... so these have been modified for bushings, then.  That should make things fun :P

I was really hoping to avoid the rebuilt services/rebuilt hinges for two reasons: 1), the rest of the hinge parts are in pretty good shape, so a few bucks for pins/bushings is much less expensive, and 2) the body shop is waiting on this to finish up, and I'm facing a possible need to move in a bit more than a month, so a month added to their time could be a very bad thing!  I thought we had the right pins before, we only realized they were wrong when we tried to use them...  If I'd have realized this a month ago, the rebuild service would be great... but now I want to try to find a faster way...

In skimming through here, moparts, and the 71-74 site, I've seen some say the bolt pattern on some mid-70's chryslers (cordobas keep getting mentioned) will work - do those hinges use more standard pins & bushings?  If so, I might be best off getting a set of those and putting in the pins/bushings I've got now...

maybe  http//:www.superbirdbob.com can help???

pins and bushings are the same I think all along 71 and laters models because hinges are allmost the same. the only diff on hinges is than mainly 73 and laters use the S kind spring, and 71/72s use the spring assemblied inside the hinge I think... but I think pins are same lenght. For sure they are same diameter.

In fact Chevys use the same pins. The ones I got were suposselly for Chevy
