Speed costs money son. How fast do you wanna go?

« on: August 17, 2008, 06:35:19 PM »

I have 3 different latches with 3 different numbers and they all appear to be identical. I know for a fact one of them is from a 69 Charger...I just don't know which one. Anybody know which is which? My parts interchange book doesn't list them.

Nope

1SE0769
1SE2288
1SE3538

These are the only numbers I see and they are next to the mounting bolt on the left as you look at the latch from the front side of the car.

Those are more than likely date codes on a Julian calendar

I'd say the top one (76th week of 1969) would be correct.

The others are 228th week of 1968

353rd week of 1968

Of course I could be wrong as well Wink

No, I don't think you're blind.  AFAIK, the actual part number was not stamped on the latches.  That's assuming we're talking about the safety latch that mounts on the hood, correct?

If you'll post a picture, we can confirm that what you're looking at is the '69 Charger variety.  From the date codes (and I agree with Chris that the #s you posted are date codes, although there weren't 76, 228 or 353 weeks in any year  Wink ) they're probably '69 pieces.

Actually I was talking about the locking latch itself that bolts to the grille frame. But no worries we checked all 3 against a 69 Charger grille frame and hood today and they all are the same and work for the application, but thanks for the help anyways!
