Whats a good intake for my 71 383?  I was talking to some a mechanic at my dad's shop and he said with a good one I should get a solid 70 or a little more horse.  He reccommended an M-1 Single Plane, I believe.  Any ideas?

The Holley Street Dominator is always a good choice. It is no longer being made for the 383-400 so you would  need to find a used one.

I agree with the Holley Street Dominator, but a 70 hp increase?   ???

Runner

you would have to have a pretty bad intake-combo missmatch to pick up 70 hp from a intake swap on a 383.    whats the rest of the combo?.      if its pretty much stock or slightly modified id go with a dp4b or a rpm manifold.   the nice thing about the dp4b is its not much higher than stock so hood clearance isnt an issue.

70 HP from a intake, I take two.

71Charger500 I ran a Edelbrock DP-4 and is a great all around intake for a stock or mild 383.

Onces again I am going to bitch at you, buy a ----ing bible. If you spend say $30.00 you would all ready have know that a intake alone would not give you 70 HP.

Sorry I am going to sound like a d--k but do some reading off line. Other wise you will waste your hard earned money with someone like the A-s Hole that told you 70 HP from a intake.

I know you are young from are PM's about the Supercharger. I was young a long time ago, but the bible made me smarter beyone may years. Other wise I would have bought the Tunnel Ram with 660 Holleys for my then stock 383 68 Road Runner. I would should had look cool as I was getting my ass kicked by a 289 Mustang 2 barrel.

There was a posting about "people that are buliding a engine need this book". But it, only $7.00 and I know Street Wizes. Told me it would be 101 class for me, but for you, well best $7.00 you would spend Mopar wise.

Need to be able to crawl, then walk after that we will be happy as heck to make you run like the wind.
