Installed my new wing.

I finally found time to install the hollow aluminum wing that I bought from Dane this summer. I like the fact that I have an aluminum wing on the car. Dane did a great job on this one. I highly recommend his parts.
Now all I need to do is find the time to paint it. We've decided to go semi gloss black on the wing and stripe and that's our final answer.
Jerry (lifsgrt) drove over from Tennessee today and bought my Janak wing and nose. He was surprised at how nice the Janak wing is. It's almost as heavy as the aluminum wing. Anyway, looks like we have another cloner getting ready to start on his project.
More on my project after SEMA.

The nose, headlamp doors, valance, fenders and fender scoops are all still in primer. I could have them all final sanded and painted in one day and then wet sanded and buffed in a couple of more days. The reason that I haven't is I'm not ready to assemble the front end yet and I don't want them sitting around getting scratched. I still need to change out the booster and master cylinder and do a few more thing in the engine bay before assembling the sheet metal. I lead a busy life.
We fly out next Saturday for Vegas. The NHRA finals are on Sunday and SEMA starts on Tuesday and runs through Friday. The New Products Award breakfast is on Tuesday and the NHRA breakfast is on Wednesday. Should meet a few celebs at both of those events. The Big Air Bash is on Wednesday evening at the Palms Casino. My son and his fiancee have made up an itenerary for the entire week. I don't think we're going to get much rest this year.  ;D

When my wife had to retire due to illness, I decided to quit my job as body shop manager at a local dealership and just stay home with her. Now we spend our days doing restoration work at our new shop here at home. I do what I love the most with the person that I love the most. Best of both worlds for me. We don't sit around worrying about the future though. We stay busy every day.

Who is Dane?

  How much was the wing?

hotrod98

Dane is Dane Gjesdal and the wing was $1500 plus shipping. Great price for a great wing.

I survived Las Vegas, but my cell phone didn't. It was stolen in the first 30 minutes of walking the strip. Oh well, it was a piece of crap. It's going to take a while to load all of the phone numbers into the new one. Saw Mike (Mr. Angry) at the SEMA show and talked to him for about a minute. He was hanging out with Goldberg and they had to get over to the B-J booth where the Goldberg Superbird was on display. The bird was pretty nice. Didn't have my camera with me that day so I didn't get any pics. We had a blast at the NHRA finals on Sunday and we drove out to Hoover dam on Monday. The rest of the week was pretty much dedicated to the SEMA show and hanging out on the strip.
Here's a pic of my wife and I at Lake Mead near the dam.
We took the dam tour, took some dam pictures and had lunch over at the dam snack bar.  :icon_smile_big:

We definitely had a great time. SEMA tightened up their process for entering the show this year and that eliminated a lot of people from getting in which made for a more enjoyable day with the vendors. There were way too many people trying to move through the aisles last year. Next year it will be even tougher to get in.
My son got to hang out with a lot of his heroes at the drag races on Sunday. When we weren't in the stands, we were talking to the racers. When you combine the NHRA finals on Sunday with the SEMA show, it makes for an enjoyable week altogether. To me, either one by itself would not be worth the hassle and expense of flying to Vegas.
Here's a pic of my son Brent with Jeg Coughlin.

No, Jeg's the guy that whoops up on Greg Anderson on a regular basis. And starting next year, Hotrod Fuller's the guy that's going to whoop up on Tony Schumacher now that Allen Johnson is leaving the team.
Note...Fuller's the other "hotrod" from northwest Arkansas.  :icon_smile_big:

I've taken in three more customer jobs plus we're back into the house remodeling mode again. I don't see the daytona getting finished before the end of the year.
But, the plan is to have it completed before the carshow season begins.

The car was very well built. It's just not my style. To me, if it was supposed to be a replica of a real racecar then it should have been painted like a real racecar. Just my two cents.
