Torsion bar question.

I've been told that torsion bars must be install in the proper side of the vehicle, but front to back doesn't matter.  I thought that the concept was that the bar was designed to provide 'Twist' resistance in one direction only.  If the bar is positioned on the correct side, but turned from front to back it will be twisting the opposite way, very similar to how it would twist if installed on the other 'Side' of the vehicle.  I only have 7-8 threads left after adjusting mine to correct ride height.  Will this be acceptable, or would you install a new set of bars?

hmm not sure what to suggest ...  about front to back ... on used bars as they have been twisted all ready ....  but would put them back how the factory installed them !!  the last   three digits of the part # & a letter stamped ( L /R on the end of the bar ..into the torsion bar cross member .  ..... :popcrn:

front and back works the same, just side makes difference. You won't win anything on that... Is just right like a coil spring, where upsideing down spring makes not difference.

Would it make some difference JUST if hex heads are offset in an non simetric angle, but stock bars are not offset, just some performance ones are.
